Your Primary was ‘The Lion’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Otter’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God

Lion- This personality likes to lead. The lion is good at making decisions and is very goal-oriented. They enjoy challenges, difficult assignments, and opportunity for advancement. Because lions are thinking of the goal, they can step on people to reach it. Lions can be very aggressive and competitive. Lions must learn not to be too bossy or to take charge in other’s affairs.

Strength: Goal-oriented, strong, direct
Weakness: Argumentative, too dictatorial
Limitation: Doesn’t understand that directness can hurt others, hard time expressing grace

Otter- Otters are very social creature. Otter personalities love people. They enjoys being popular and influencing and motivating others. Otter can sometimes be hurt when people do not like them. Otter personalities usually have lots of friends, but not deep relationships. They love to goof-off. (They are notorious for messy rooms.) Otters like to hurry and finish jobs. (Jobs are not often done well.) The otter personality is like Tigger in Winnie The Pooh.

Strength: People person, open, positive
Weakness: Talks too much, too permissive
Limitation: Remembering past commitments, follow through with discipline

[E]xperience

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

Grew up in pastor’s home. Accepted Christ as 4year old reading children’s Christian stories.

Ministry Experience (Where I have served in the past, if applicable, including ChurchName, City/State, Position, Years Involved):

Led some student run ministries at Wheaton College. Spent summer in Amsterdam on missions trip in college.

Organized and coached about a dozen men’s small groups in young adult ministry at Harvest Bible Chapel in Rolling Meadows IL. Served on ministry leadership team there. Went to Ethiopia on two missions trips through HBC.

Served on church plant leadership team (3 lay people and two pastors) for Harvest Bible Chapel in Crystal Lake IL. Served on deacon board (responsible for finances, facility and benevolence fund) there for six years including 3 years as Chair. Taught newcomer classes. Counseled some troubled marriages with Colbey. Also served as Chair of Board for Tri-County Pregnancy & Parenting Services in Crystal Lake IL for five years. Served on Board at Trinity Oaks Christian Academy in Cary IL for 2 years before moving to Colorado.

List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:

Marriage to Colbey and the arrival of our three children has made me much more fun (can you imagine me before?) and enhanced my compassion and mercy and evangelism.

Serving in the YAM at HBC in Rolling Meadows taught me so much about ministry leadership, counseling and doctrinal Discernment and was just a ton of fun. Missions trips to Amsterdam and Ethiopia (2) and the process of adopting from Ethiopia (2 more trips there) grew my heart for the hurting and other cultures.

Church planting in Crystal Lake IL taught me so much about keeping ministry simple and focused and transparent. The sense of community and togetherness was unbeatable.

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

Making serious mistakes as a leadership team at the Crystal Lake IL church plant taught me so much about God’s mercy and the importance of transparency and humility in leadership (plus lots of pragmatic tactical lessons).

Losing my job in IL taught much about God’s sovereignty and grace and generosity (and brought us to CO 🙂 )
