S.H.A.P.E. Assessment Results

Thank you Sandy Morris for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. May God Bless You!

#1 Gift, Serving (93%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I love to help, support, serve! I am comfortable being the leader but I prefer to be behind the scenes in a support role. It’s not about me, it’s about others and that is where my heart migrates. I like for things to run smoothly and efficiently. Serving allows me the opportunity to help others by being involved in the processes and procedures of preparing and planning; executing; being a part of (and analyzing) the results.
“Let us never forget that in God’s service, what we are conditions what we do. In the service of Christ there can be no dividing line between professional competence and personal morality.” Alistair Begg – Truth For Life

#2 Gift, Mercy Showing (65%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I don’t consider this a gift. God gives me so much mercy every day, why wouldn’t I show it to others? I do not consider myself ‘better than’ anyone. We all have idols. We are all addicted to something. We are all prisoners. We are all sinners. Praise God I heard and answered the Holy Spirit at the age of 25! Being with folks, in places, that others may turn away from is easy for me because all the bleach in the world couldn’t have cleansed me from my past and washed me white, but one drop of Jesus blood did! I want to share that with every single person that doesn’t think they are good enough … or maybe more accurately, that think they are too dirty, too bad, too far gone, too helpless and too hopeless. Jesus! That’s what Mercy did for me!

#3 Gift, Giving (62%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
“Who am I that You should suffer Your very life to set me free? The only thing that I can give You, is the life You gave to me …” That is a line from a song, “Offering” by Third Day. I have nothing to give except what God gives to me. It’s not mine, it’s His and I’m responsible for using it to share Him and grow His kingdom.

[H]eart

Three things I love to do that bring joy and fulfillment in my life:

1. Spending time with my husband, my family, my dog, and our adult children. Some of my extended family and none of our adult children are ‘in’ church. They all KNOW Jesus but none of them has surrendered to His will. Spending time with them – showing them Jesus love – is a joy to my husband and me.

2. Jail ministry. This is very dear to my heart because I have lived it with my 23 year old daughter. The enemy has a stronghold inside the walls and halls of most prisons. Sharing the love of Jesus with a female that does not understand the difference in being used and being loved is humbling and praiseworthy. To see a little glimmer of true HOPE in the eyes of a woman who believes she is hopeless and helpless is beyond my ability to explain in words.

3. I like to read when I have time … mostly fiction. I have just finished a series by Colleen Cossette that I have completely enjoyed! I enjoy listening, watching, and reading most anything by Dr. Michael Youssef, too. Almost every weekday morning at 6:30am, my husband and I listen to “Leading the Way” from Church of the Apostles in Atlanta, GA.

Who I love to work with most, and the age or type of people:

Older, Middle Age, 30’s, 20’s. I am scared to death of babies! LOL!

Church issues, ministries, or possible needs that excite or concern me the most:

My heart aches for a “church” – not just CFBC, but all that proclaim Jesus as Lord and Savior – to welcome ALL people! When I read about heaven in Revelation, I get excited! When I think of Jesus instructing us to “hear” and “see” Him in every part of life, I believe that means we are blind to race and social/economic status. We see the heart that He created in every soul and we minister to that heart without regard to where they live, what they look like, where they go to school, or any other thing that will not matter one bit on judgement day.
At CFBC we do not have an outreach to our community – door to door – or jail ministry – or recovery ministry. Sometimes, I think we come across as too ‘clean and perfect’ instead of the hospital for sinners that we should be.

*Mark the Top 3 from the list, that Trigger a Passion in You

Drug abuse/recovery

[A]bilities

My current vocation:

Administrative Ministry Assistant – currently working with Drew Startup, Associate Pastor at CFBC.

Other jobs I have experience in:

28 years in Corporate America – HR and Executive Administrative support

Special talents/skills that I have:

I am a DC personality. If being organized and multi-tasking are skills and talents, then I have them! I budget well, too.

I have taught a class or seminar on:

The only class I have ever taught is a SPIN class at the gym!

I feel my most valuable personal asset is:

Forgiveness. I am a real person. Genuine. Sincere. Honest. I strive to see good and see God in every situation. To live ‘less than’ and not be caught up in materialism and the world too much. We all make mistakes and we all need forgiveness. I will attain perfection at Jesus’ feet; until then, I forgive others because I know that I need forgiveness. myself.

Your Primary was ‘The Beaver’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Lion’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God

Beaver- Organized. Beavers think that there is a right way to do everything and they want to do it exactly that way. Beaver personalities are very creative. They desire to solve everything. Desire to take their time and do it right. Beavers do not like sudden changes. They need reassurance.

Strength: High standards, order, respect
Weakness: Unrealistic expectations of self & others, too perfect.
Limitation: Seeing the optimistic side of things, expressing flexibility

Lion- This personality likes to lead. The lion is good at making decisions and is very goal-oriented. They enjoy challenges, difficult assignments, and opportunity for advancement. Because lions are thinking of the goal, they can step on people to reach it. Lions can be very aggressive and competitive. Lions must learn not to be too bossy or to take charge in other’s affairs.

Strength: Goal-oriented, strong, direct
Weakness: Argumentative, too dictatorial
Limitation: Doesn’t understand that directness can hurt others, hard time expressing grace

[E]xperience

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

Saved at age 24 at Trinity Baptist Church. God has been my strength through Cancer, Crohn’s, Lupus, and being the parent of a child with substance abuse addictions. He is my rock, my strength, my defender, my Savior, and the lifter of my head!

Ministry Experience (Where I have served in the past, if applicable, including ChurchName, City/State, Position, Years Involved):

Video Team, Prayer Team, Kitchen, Ladies Ministry, IMAGE Team

List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:

Being raised by my grandparents because my mom was only 16 when I was born. It sounds like a negative, but it was not!

Living with Crohn’s Disease for over 30 years and being a double mastectomy breast cancer survivor. The body fails but the Spirit lives on!

God bringing a man into my life that loves HIM more than me! Meeting and marrying a man that loves God more than anything is a beautiful and amazing display of God’s love for me.

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

Parenting a teenager/adult child with substance abuse issues – rehab, jail, prison

Divorce and being a single parent for 16+ years

Losing my job of 20+ years and my retirement due to government buyout and bank closure

Wrapping It Up

The Challenge: Based upon your S.H.A.P.E. Assessment above (the way God wired you), If you knew you couldn’t fail … and ‘lack of money, or time’ was not an obstacle… list your Top 3 Things you would ‘Focus’ your Life on, next to #1 Loving God & #2 Loving Your Neighbor (these would be your ‘3 God-Sized Dreams’ for your life)?

1. My Relationship with GOD

2. My Relationship with Others

  • Putting Your Spouse First
  • Your Kids Second
  • Everyone Else After those

3. To find some way to show those tormented by addiction, hurt by life, and/or feel less than, know that they are LOVED!

4. Go on a Mission Trip – I guess that would be better stated as NOT BEING AFRAID TO FLY!

5. Having a wiener dog (dachshund) rescue farm!
