S.H.A.P.E. Assessment Results

Thank you Rebekah Byrne-Wade for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. May God Bless You!

[H]eart

Three things I love to do that bring joy and fulfillment in my life:

1. writing and other creative outlets

2. traveling

3. cooking and checking out new restaurants

Who I love to work with most, and the age or type of people:

Other creative people or people with passion and I love spending time with the elderly.

Church issues, ministries, or possible needs that excite or concern me the most:

I really love working on the social media and web site. I think this is so important for the health of the church and love that we are reaching people who might not be able to be part of the church in other ways. I would love to bring back First Friday Fellowship, because I feel that our church could benefit from fellowship time outside the church. I also like planning and executing fundraising events that encourage fellowship as well.

Your Primary was ‘The Beaver’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Retriever’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God

Beaver- Organized. Beavers think that there is a right way to do everything and they want to do it exactly that way. Beaver personalities are very creative. They desire to solve everything. Desire to take their time and do it right. Beavers do not like sudden changes. They need reassurance.

Strength: High standards, order, respect
Weakness: Unrealistic expectations of self & others, too perfect.
Limitation: Seeing the optimistic side of things, expressing flexibility

Golden Retriever- Good at making friends. Very loyal. Retriever personalities do not like big changes. They look for security. Can be very sensitive. Very caring. Has deep relationships, but usually only a couple of close friends. Wants to be loved by everyone. Looks for appreciation. Works best in a limited situation with a steady work pattern.

Strength: Accommodating, calm, affirming
Weakness: Indecisive, indifferent, unable to express emotional, too soft on other people
Limitation: Seeing the need to be more assertive, holding others accountable

[E]xperience

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

I can’t really think of a time when I wasn’t a Christian. It’s just something I have always felt in my heart. Even when I was struggling with my sexuality I never waivered on my faith, but rather sought a way for who I knew I was and how it would fit with my faith.

Ministry Experience (Where I have served in the past, if applicable, including ChurchName, City/State, Position, Years Involved):

Resurrection Beach MCC, Costa Mesa CA Board Member, Young Adults Ministry, Pride Committee, Fundraising, 4 yrs

List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:

Meeting my wife

My dog finding me

Being raised by parents who maintained a healthy loving relationship for over 30 yrs despite many challenges that might have driven other relationships apart

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

Reoccurring bouts of depression starting in my teenage years

Having to quit college about 1/2 way thru my junior year

A series of broken hearts

Wrapping It Up

The Challenge: Based upon your S.H.A.P.E. 1. My Relationship with GOD

2. My Relationship with Others

  • Putting Your Spouse First
  • Your Kids Second
  • Everyone Else After those

3. To publish a book that I could donate the proceeds to the building of a school focused on writing, art, photography and other arts

4. To work with an organization to spread education to young girls in underpriviledged areas of the world

5. To make our church assessible to all people regardless of their physical disability
