When I was a Parish Worker at a former church and gave notice to quit, as I needed a full time job with benefits, since I was purchasing my first home. My pastor wept and said, “Who is going to hold all of the balloons.” (This was from a Christian training we did with Disney.) I enjoy, and do a good job, of holding all of the balloons.

Your Primary was ‘The Beaver’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Lion’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God

Beaver- Organized. Beavers think that there is a right way to do everything and they want to do it exactly that way. Beaver personalities are very creative. They desire to solve everything. Desire to take their time and do it right. Beavers do not like sudden changes. They need reassurance.

Strength: High standards, order, respect
Weakness: Unrealistic expectations of self & others, too perfect.
Limitation: Seeing the optimistic side of things, expressing flexibility

Lion- This personality likes to lead. The lion is good at making decisions and is very goal-oriented. They enjoy challenges, difficult assignments, and opportunity for advancement. Because lions are thinking of the goal, they can step on people to reach it. Lions can be very aggressive and competitive. Lions must learn not to be too bossy or to take charge in other’s affairs.

Strength: Goal-oriented, strong, direct
Weakness: Argumentative, too dictatorial
Limitation: Doesn’t understand that directness can hurt others, hard time expressing grace

[E]xperience

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

I have always believed in God, however it became very personal when God saved me when I was abducted from a store I was working in. It was an early Sunday morning, and I got to see the sunrise, which I thought would never happen again.

Ministry Experience (Where I have served in the past, if applicable, including ChurchName, City/State, Position, Years Involved):

Grace Lutheran Church, Des Moines, WA (27ish years)
Involved in many aspects of the church… high school youth advisor, Mexico Mission coordinator, Adult Ministries Parish Worker (created Glimpses of Grace which highlighted all of our adult ministries), Angel Tree coordinator, co-creator of Women’s conference, Kingdom Weekend organizer, served on 20 short term mission trips – Russia, Jamaica, Haiti, Mexico, migrant workers in Eastern WA)

Reformed Church in America, Des Moines, WA (several years)
Consistory Clerk, co-created Evangelism conference, edited Pastor’s book, Elder

List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:

God has a sense of humor – he has used ME, a nobody, for all of these things… this struck me after I was asked to be a speaker in the women’s prison.

35 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’

Adoption
1. I am adopted by Christ
2. My sister couldn’t have children naturally, so my nephew is adopted.
3. My cousin who struggles with mental illness, became pregnant while in a mental institution by another patient. She gave her son up for adoption. I was her labor coach, and I had the blessing of handing him to his new parents.

My maternal grandparents, especially my grandmother, who showed me unconditional love throughout their whole lives. I did not grow up in the church. Whenever we stayed with them, they always took my sister and I to church, VBS, visiting shut-ins, etc.

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

1. Being physically saved when I as abducted with attempted rape.
2. Being molested by an adult cousin when I was a teenager.

Being robbed twice at the grocery store where I worked – once at gun point and once at knife point.

My parent’s divorce when I was 13. Lots of physical violence.

Wrapping It Up

The Challenge: Based upon your S.H.A.P.E. Assessment above (the way God wired you), If you knew you couldn’t fail … and ‘lack of money, or time’ was not an obstacle… list your Top 3 Things you would ‘Focus’ your Life on, next to #1 Loving God & #2 Loving Your Neighbor (these would be your ‘3 God-Sized Dreams’ for your life)?

1. My Relationship with GOD

2. My Relationship with Others

  • Putting Your Spouse First
  • Your Kids Second
  • Everyone Else After those

3. To be married to a solid, Christian man

4. Serve 6-12 months for Samaritan’s Purse or Mercy Ships

5. My former churches have let society shape them instead of them shaping society. As I am looking for a new church home, I am reserving this for where God might call me to serve there. Lastly, in to be debt free by the time I retire.
