#1 Gift, Teaching (71%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
…God has guided me to use this gift regularly so that God has further developed it through my roles at Bible Study Fellowship, Children’s Leader and Ladies’ Discussion Group Leader, and by coming well-prepared to Bible studies at TBC that I attend weekly, and seem to naturally work out of a teaching mode with children, who I believe are able to understand a lot about God and the Gospel.

#2 Gift, Serving (65%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
…God has taught me that this is an important part of connecting with other people and to further the kingdom of God. It is an important way of humbly being obedient to God’s plan for His Church, to build up others up. It also brings me a sense of purpose and joy.

#3 Gift, Evangelism (62%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
…God has shown clearly in His Word that this is important for helping others to come to faith or to grow in their faith. This is a gift I have really had to seek out and learn how to do this and do it well, and to set my self-consciousness aside and move forward in God’s calling to share His love for people and His provision for them and how they can approach His with confidence.

Your Primary was ‘The Retriever’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Lion’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God

Golden Retriever- Good at making friends. Very loyal. Retriever personalities do not like big changes. They look for security. Can be very sensitive. Very caring. Has deep relationships, but usually only a couple of close friends. Wants to be loved by everyone. Looks for appreciation. Works best in a limited situation with a steady work pattern.

Strength: Accommodating, calm, affirming
Weakness: Indecisive, indifferent, unable to express emotional, too soft on other people
Limitation: Seeing the need to be more assertive, holding others accountable

Lion- This personality likes to lead. The lion is good at making decisions and is very goal-oriented. They enjoy challenges, difficult assignments, and opportunity for advancement. Because lions are thinking of the goal, they can step on people to reach it. Lions can be very aggressive and competitive. Lions must learn not to be too bossy or to take charge in other’s affairs.

Strength: Goal-oriented, strong, direct
Weakness: Argumentative, too dictatorial
Limitation: Doesn’t understand that directness can hurt others, hard time expressing grace

[E]xperience

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

I grew up in a Christian home, going to church for worship and Sunday School nearly every week, singing in the Children’s Choir and playing in the Youth Hand-bell Choir, and attending youth group, and just about everything else that was a part of doing church. I learned a lot about God, Jesus, and the Bible, but it wasn’t until I was a sophomore in high school and attended a Saturday evening youth worship event each week with my youth group, clear across Wichita, called BASIC, that I began to feel encouraged to make a personal decision to embrace a faith in Christ Jesus for myself. It was during a time of personal worship and reflection during a Sunday evening youth group meeting that I made that commitment and was shepherded by an older girl in our youth group to begin attending a Bible Study for high school girls under the leadership of the wife of our youth group leader to begin being discipled in this new way of pursuing Christ and living for Him.

Ministry Experience (Where I have served in the past, if applicable, including ChurchName, City/State, Position, Years Involved):

Benton UMC, Benton, KS — Mom’s Day Out Director and Teacher, 3 (?) years; Education Committee, a few years; Missions Committee, many years
The Benton Church, Benton, KS — Education Committee, 2-3 years; Missions Committee, many years; Administrative Council; Lay Rep’ to Annual Conference, 4 years; Nominations Committee, 4 years;

Epworth UMC, Wichita, KS — Education Committee, 3 years; Mom’s Day Out Teacher, 3 years

University UMC, Wichita, KS — Mom’s Day Out Director and Teacher, 3 years

Woodland UMC, Wichita, KS — nursery worker, 2-3 (?) years

List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:

Learning foreign languages, the gifting and enjoyment of which began in 5th grade by reading about Helen Keller and learning the sign alphabet from the back of that book, then flourishing when much encouraged during high school, then returning to it in college.
Touring of some of Europe by bicycle and train with husband Randy… before children. Attending a summer language school in Puebla, Mexico, to become more fluent in Spanish.

Having children of our own to love and raise, including making connections with other young parents and doing our best to lead them to know and love Christ and to live in accordance with God’s will for them.

The enjoyment of outdoor activities, including hiking (especially in CO), swimming, horseback riding, water skiing, snow skiing, playing soccer (until a knee injury happened), motorcycle riding,…

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

Breaking a finger during a fall while rollerskating, breaking my left wrist when my motorcycle knocked me down after I parked it but forgot to put the kickstand down, and getting Planter’s Faciitis one summer when I got too enthusiastic about getting more exercise and was walking my dog 6 miles each day!

Personal conflict with a couple of family members over wrong things that I said during a bad situation or things I refused to do because I felt like it was wrong for me to do or didn’t know I should do because of lack of communication.

Leaving a job due to stress and not getting the support I needed at the time, then wishing later that I had sought more support and stuck with the job.
