S.H.A.P.E. Assessment Results

Thank you for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. May God Bless You!

#1 Gift, Evangelism (100%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I love to share my testimony with non-believers. I love to let them know that God is giving them a free gift of eternal life if only they’ll receive it. I like to tell them that they are saved by grace and not by the things they have done in this life. I like sharing with them that Jesus died on the cross so that we may be forgiven for our sins – even the worst of our sins. I love sharing my joy with others and telling them what I know about Heaven.

#2 Gift, Teaching (100%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I love to teach the Word of God. Before Covid (and after Covid) I taught (will teach) in the children’s ministry. I enjoy teaching the 4-5 year olds the most because they are just starting to learn the foundations of God’s word and they are sponges at this age. However, teaching the third and fourth graders is an honor as well because my teaching may lead a child to Christ. I feel like I have a gift for it. I have learned to make my lesson plans interesting enough to hold the attention of a young audience.

#3 Gift, Exhortation/Encouragement (93%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I have always been an encouraging person. I often lift the spirits of those who have begun to give up. I have always taken the underdogs under my wings and lifted them up. Someone could be having the most terrible day, and it’s amazing how just the slightest bit of encouragement can completely change their outlook on their day, and possibly their life. I know how much even a little bit of encouragement means to me, so I feel it’s my calling to encourage others. It’s such a simple thing to do. I’ll never forget a true story I was told many years ago:
A Simple Gesture
Mark was walking home from school one day when he noticed the boy ahead of him had tripped and dropped all of the books he was carrying, along with two sweaters, a baseball bat, a glove and a small tape recorder. Mark knelt down and helped the boy pick up the scattered articles. Since they were going the same way, he helped to carry part of the burden. As they walked Mark discovered the boy’s name was Bill, that he loved video games, baseball and history, and that he was having lots of trouble with his other subjects and that he had just broken up with his girlfriend.
They arrived at Bill’s home first and Mark was invited in for a Coke and to watch some television. The afternoon passed pleasantly with a few laughs and some shared small talk, then Mark went home. They continued to see each other around school, had lunch together once or twice, then both graduated from junior high school. They ended up in the same high school where they had brief contacts over the years. Finally the long awaited senior year came and three weeks before graduation, Bill asked Mark if they could talk. Bill reminded him of the day years ago when they had first met. “Did you ever wonder why I was carrying so many things home that day?” asked Bill. “You see, I cleaned out my locker because I didn’t want to leave a mess for anyone else. I had stored away some of my mothers sleeping pills and I was going home to commit suicide. But after we spent some time together talking and laughing, I realized that if I had killed myself, I would have missed that time and so many others that might follow. So you see, Mark, when you picked up those books that day, you did a lot more, you saved my life.”
-John W. Schlatter
You see, just the smallest words of kindness and encouragement can literally change not only someone’s day, but also their life. And being encouraging to others is such an easy thing to do. It just takes just seconds to make someone’s day.

[H]eart

Three things I love to do that bring joy and fulfillment in my life:

1. Brighten other people’s day. It’s as simple as a smile, a compliment, words of encouragement, a paid-for meal in the drive-thru line, etc.

2. Teach the 4-5 year olds their Bible lesson, and listen to them answer questions from the lesson and say their Bible verse. Just watching their childlike faith warms my heart.

3. I love spending time with my daughter who is almost 5. Hearing her laugh hysterically makes my entire day. I could record it and listen to it all day long. I love to read books to her and act out the different characters. Just being silly with her makes my heart overflow with joy.

Who I love to work with most, and the age or type of people:

Children: Ages 4-5 (teaching God’s Word)
The Elderly: Ages 80-100 (sitting with the lonely or the sick)
Outcasts/Misfits: All Ages (those who often feel left out and alone; suicidal)

Church issues, ministries, or possible needs that excite or concern me the most:

Ministries:
I would be passionate about reaching out to new visitors and new members to make them feel welcome, I would also be passionate about helping with the Care ministry – letting those who are grieving know that I’m there for them as I have been through extreme loss as well; and lastly, I’d be passionate about being a part of the Global Missions team. I remember about 12 years ago when I was in the Hope Singles group (before I married), the Global Ministry team showed us a slideshow of a missions trip they made to Kenya. I remember thinking it was the most powerful thing I had ever seen. My heart filled with love for the children while my eyes welled up with tears – happy tears. Ever since that day, I’ve wanted to be a part of something special like that.
Possible Needs: I would be excited to volunteer in the church office doing administrative work for any staff member needing help. I thoroughly enjoy administrative work, and it is one of my top spiritual gifts. I did a lot of administrative work before I left the working world to raise my daughter. She’s in school now, so I have a lot of free time.

Your Primary was ‘The Lion’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Otter’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God

Lion- This personality likes to lead. The lion is good at making decisions and is very goal-oriented. They enjoy challenges, difficult assignments, and opportunity for advancement. Because lions are thinking of the goal, they can step on people to reach it. Lions can be very aggressive and competitive. Lions must learn not to be too bossy or to take charge in other’s affairs.

Strength: Goal-oriented, strong, direct
Weakness: Argumentative, too dictatorial
Limitation: Doesn’t understand that directness can hurt others, hard time expressing grace

Otter- Otters are very social creature. Otter personalities love people. They enjoys being popular and influencing and motivating others. Otter can sometimes be hurt when people do not like them. Otter personalities usually have lots of friends, but not deep relationships. They love to goof-off. (They are notorious for messy rooms.) Otters like to hurry and finish jobs. (Jobs are not often done well.) The otter personality is like Tigger in Winnie The Pooh.

Strength: People person, open, positive
Weakness: Talks too much, too permissive
Limitation: Remembering past commitments, follow through with discipline
