#3 Gift, Exhortation/Encouragement (65%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
In communicating with people, I tend to do more listening than talking. I enjoy hearing peoples’ stories and gaining insights into their lives. I feel more comfortable listening to others’ than sharing my own stories. In listening to people talk who are having trouble, I have learned that what they need most from me are my open ears and closed mouth. After I listen, I love offering encouragement in the best way I can with the words the Lord puts in my mouth.

Your Primary was ‘The Otter’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Retriever’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God

Otter- Otters are very social creature. Otter personalities love people. They enjoys being popular and influencing and motivating others. Otter can sometimes be hurt when people do not like them. Otter personalities usually have lots of friends, but not deep relationships. They love to goof-off. (They are notorious for messy rooms.) Otters like to hurry and finish jobs. (Jobs are not often done well.) The otter personality is like Tigger in Winnie The Pooh.

Strength: People person, open, positive
Weakness: Talks too much, too permissive
Limitation: Remembering past commitments, follow through with discipline

Golden Retriever- Good at making friends. Very loyal. Retriever personalities do not like big changes. They look for security. Can be very sensitive. Very caring. Has deep relationships, but usually only a couple of close friends. Wants to be loved by everyone. Looks for appreciation. Works best in a limited situation with a steady work pattern.

Strength: Accommodating, calm, affirming
Weakness: Indecisive, indifferent, unable to express emotional, too soft on other people
Limitation: Seeing the need to be more assertive, holding others accountable

[E]xperience

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

I have never has been a time in my life when I didn’t know that Jesus loved me. I was raised in the church, from the nursery at BDBC to my present involvement at CBC. It has been difficult for me to boldly recognize my testimony because it is neither profound nor extraordinary. I recall no life-changing event, but felt the strong pull at VBS when I was 9 years old to accept Jesus as my Savior. The routine of my life did not change with my decision, but I soon sensed a greater awareness of my spiritual growth and personal sin in my life. I am a conflict-avoider and learning to face problems head-on has been my greatest challenge as an adult. Through the love and grace of my parents, the Lord has seen my extended family through some painful life events. This has given me greater sensitivity to others’ who are struggling in areas of life that others might consider shameful or embarrassing. In this, I am still a work in progress.

Ministry Experience (Where I have served in the past, if applicable, including ChurchName, City/State, Position, Years Involved):

CBC Long Range Planning Committee

CBC Pastor Search Committee

CBC other ministries–church directory planning team; adult choir; led Bible Study session at women’s retreat

List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:

Being born into my birth family

Marrying into my extended family

The career journey the Lord led me through

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

Having a loved one go through a painful life situation that is difficult to talk about

Solitary parenting due to frequently absent spouse
