S.H.A.P.E. Assessment Results

We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. May God Bless You!

Your Primary was ‘The Retriever’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Otter’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God
Golden Retriever- Good at making friends. Very loyal. Retriever personalities do not like big changes. They look for security. Can be very sensitive. Very caring. Has deep relationships, but usually only a couple of close friends. Wants to be loved by everyone. Looks for appreciation. Works best in a limited situation with a steady work pattern.
Strength: Accommodating, calm, affirming
Weakness: Indecisive, indifferent, unable to express emotional, too soft on other people
Limitation: Seeing the need to be more assertive, holding others accountable
Otter- Otters are very social creature. Otter personalities love people. They enjoys being popular and influencing and motivating others. Otter can sometimes be hurt when people do not like them. Otter personalities usually have lots of friends, but not deep relationships. They love to goof-off. (They are notorious for messy rooms.) Otters like to hurry and finish jobs. (Jobs are not often done well.) The otter personality is like Tigger in Winnie The Pooh.
Strength: People person, open, positive
Weakness: Talks too much, too permissive
Limitation: Remembering past commitments, follow through with discipline
[E]xperience
Although I lived in several places growing up, I often visited and stayed with my grandmother who was a strong, Southern Baptist. I often went to church with her and during a Revival, I committed my life to Jesus and got baptized when I was 11 years old.
Tallulah Baptist Church – Tallulah, LA – Active member – 1989-2000
Lake Hills Church – (Non-denominational but Baptist roots) – Austin, TX – 2008-2015
Salisbury Presbyterian Church – Midlothian, VA – Kids Sunday School Teacher – 2016-2018
My Grandmother’s faith, lifestyle and inspiration
Being actively involved in the youth group at church all through high school.
Being a parent and wanting to be a good Christian role model for my children.
My childhood: My mom died when I was 2; Dad got remarried and then divorced when I was 9; Dad was an alcoholic/drug user, developed colon cancer and then committed suicide when I was 12; I lived in 19 places from birth until age 12 but then moved in with my grandmother and the rest of my youth was in a stable, Christian environment.
Moving to VA 5 years ago; We were so excited to move to Richmond from TX 5 1/2 years ago to be closer to in-laws but it’s been a very bumpy ride with challenges in husband’s job, finances, and trying to find where we fit in. This southern gal definitely felt out of place especially our first two years in Northern VA. The frequent starting over and lack of stability along with the guilt & worry of how it was effecting our kids became a huge impact on me mentally. There were a lot of low points where I felt hopeless and worthless but it all brought me that much closer to God and although we recently moved from Haymarket to Warrenton this past summer, we feel much better about where we are and our future here.
Being a teacher: As a teacher, I’ve come to know so many families and their varied personal struggles. Everybody really is fighting their own battle daily so it’s important to be kind and give people hope. When I can, I definitely talk about faith and the strength God gives us. As a public school teacher, I can’t usually discuss religion but outside of the public education building, I do.
Wrapping It Up
The Challenge: Based upon your S.H.A.P.E. Assessment above (the way God wired you), If you knew you couldn’t fail … and ‘lack of money, or time’ was not an obstacle… list your Top 3 Things you would ‘Focus’ your Life on, next to #1 Loving God & #2 Loving Your Neighbor (these would be your ‘3 God-Sized Dreams’ for your life)?
1. My Relationship with GOD
2. My Relationship with Others
- Putting Your Spouse First
- Your Kids Second
- Everyone Else After those
3. Help create a dynamic youth program at PVC – Warrenton so more youth in the area can come to know Jesus and be around positive influences that will help them be the adults God created them to be.
4. My entire family will put God at their #1 priority (which would have a big impact on their individual health, our marriage, and finances)
5. To somehow be able to inspire many to have faith, hope and purpose.
