[E]xperience

I believe God called me at a young age because I knew I was His child and what He did for me when I went to Our Redeemer Lutheran School, but I didn’t take my walk very seriously until the end of my sophomore year in college. I was going to transfer to Oberlin College from UT Austin, and God honestly stepped in and I had this moment of God leading me to stay at UT. There was this peace in me that He still wanted to be my Father and that I could trust Him with what was next in my life. I stayed at UT and felt God moving in my heart to seek Him more in His Word and in relationship with other Christians who desired to follow Him. I am still so thankful for that moment and it continues to remind me of how God is right with me through challenging times and joyful times.

Being shepherded by Christian mentors, like my aunt Bethie and small group leaders at Watermark and Austin Stone.

Taking a marriage prep class at Watermark and Austin Stone. Being able to see my marriage with Trevor through God’s word has helped me see Him and his people more clearly too.

Being at St. John’s and beginning to understand the liturgy and the kind of fellowship it brings with God and with the church family.

Getting diagnosed with PCOS and OCD. Has helped me have compassion on women who are struggling to conceive and to maintain normalcy in their bodies and emotional lives.

Seeing my husband Trevor have epilepsy and my mom have severe dyslexia have been very difficult but have helped give me a heart to love and understand those with disabilities and differences. Has especially helped me as a classroom teacher, when I come across children who need additional accommodations and compassion.

This one is yet-to-come I’m sure!
