S.H.A.P.E. Assessment Results

Thank you Alice D Graybill for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. #1 Gift, Teaching (68%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I didn’t think this would be the strongest gift, but as it is, I do enjoy reading and speaking of scripture from both the Old and New Testament. I feel that I hear God’s message in my life, in all of our lives, every single day, in one way or another.

#2 Gift, Evangelism (59%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
Spreading the Lord’s message of Faith, Hope, and Love is so very important. If I am called to evangelize, then it’s because God says its time and he knows I can do it, even if I think he’s got it all wrong… I would be able to testify.

#3 Gift, Serving (59%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
It is so important for each of us who attempt to live as Christians to be of service to our communities, in some way. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. I have been wanting to become more involved in my church.

[H]eart

Three things I love to do that bring joy and fulfillment in my life:

1. Making sure my children are healthy and that they feel loved.

2. I love listening to contemporary Christian music on a daily basis. It’s not my quote, but I love it and totally believe it, “When words fail, music speaks.” It can speak volumes…

3. I like to get out in nature, one way or another, whether it’s easy hiking, camping, or just walking through a park.

Who I love to work with most, and the age or type of people:

I would prefer working with adults 45 and older. Not sure how to answer what type of people that I would prefer to work with because I’m open to just about whatever.

Church issues, ministries, or possible needs that excite or concern me the most:

I have not been involved with it yet but, I believe there needs to be more attention paid to the substance abuse crisis. It has affected too many of my generation. It both saddens me and angers me.

Your Primary was ‘The Beaver’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Retriever’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God

Beaver- Organized. Beavers think that there is a right way to do everything and they want to do it exactly that way. Beaver personalities are very creative. They desire to solve everything. Desire to take their time and do it right. Beavers do not like sudden changes. They need reassurance.

Strength: High standards, order, respect
Weakness: Unrealistic expectations of self & others, too perfect.
Limitation: Seeing the optimistic side of things, expressing flexibility

Golden Retriever- Good at making friends. Very loyal. Retriever personalities do not like big changes. They look for security. Can be very sensitive. Very caring. Has deep relationships, but usually only a couple of close friends. Wants to be loved by everyone. Looks for appreciation. Works best in a limited situation with a steady work pattern.

Strength: Accommodating, calm, affirming
Weakness: Indecisive, indifferent, unable to express emotional, too soft on other people
Limitation: Seeing the need to be more assertive, holding others accountable

[E]xperience

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

I grew up in a Christian home, going to church every Sunday, but fell away once I was out of my parents home. I started believing in a pagan religion and lived my life in a very unsavory way that, looking back, was empty and unforgiving. When I met my second husband, I began to see what hope was, what love really was, and what perseverance meant.

Ministry Experience (Where I have served in the past, if applicable, including ChurchName, City/State, Position, Years Involved):

none

List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:

Giving birth to my first daughter is when I first began to learn what love is and how it can change one’s heart.

Finding and marrying my second husband whom I believe was put in my path because we both needed one another.

Getting rededicated to the church with my second husband at my side. The instant that I emerged from the baptismal water, I really felt that my old self was already dead and that I was on a new path, the right path.

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

My first marriage was filled with hurt, violence, abuse, and abandonment, luckily only lasting a year and 3 months. No one has the right to abuse and belittle you or your family. Love does not mean you have to lower your standards or sense of worth.

Losing my father after a long battle with Parkinsons and Dementia was really hard. I am however glad that he is no longer suffering. He was the epitome of a hard worker for his church and neighbors, never sitting for long. He was a very practical man, very reserved but loving in his own way. Parkinsons and Dementia took him down hard. Through it all, I have learned to cherish every minute we have with family and friends, because we don’t know what around the bend.

I wanted to stay in the Active Army and Army Reserves as my career because too many times in my past work experiences, I was more transient than permanent. I left the active aspect of it because I was pregnant with my first child and did not have the proper resources to make it work to stay. I went back into the Army reserves to finish my original contract and stayed that allotted time but that was it. Things just didn’t work out to allow me to stay in the service. I still grapple with the whole experience but its probably for the best. Life experiences like these help you to see how God has a plan for you even if you or I might not see it immediately. Keeping the faith…
