#2 Gift, Pastoring/Shepherding (71%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
Mentoring one on one, Anita, Elisa, Kristene, Emily. Caring about the well being of young Christians, wanting to see college students grow up into service

#3 Gift, Teaching (62%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
Feeling like I was forced into this position, having to teach college students to teach children at camp, teaching youth groups, children’s classrooms, being able to find creative ways to show why the Bible is real and applicable. Love object lessons to make a point.

[H]eart

Three things I love to do that bring joy and fulfillment in my life:

1. Build relationship with others, going to coffee, mentorship, really caring about other people’s live, going to kids school events- all relation things

2. Camp! Going and hanging out with teenagers, really any event is fun for me, not just with teenagers

3. Organizing and feeling effective to make something run. Being the person who has everything ready to go

Who I love to work with most, and the age or type of people:

Teenagers, college students, volunteers- I like those who are excited to be helping, Anita, Jennifer, Marisa, Julia, Angelica etc…

Church issues, ministries, or possible needs that excite or concern me the most:

Concern: not having enough volunteers, or not being able to maintain them, or make them feel valued enough to come back.
Excite: The growth stage of the church, and not knowing exactly what’s next but feeling like I’m on the ground level.

Your Primary was ‘The Otter’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Lion’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God

Otter- Otters are very social creature. Otter personalities love people. They enjoys being popular and influencing and motivating others. Otter can sometimes be hurt when people do not like them. Otter personalities usually have lots of friends, but not deep relationships. They love to goof-off. (They are notorious for messy rooms.) Otters like to hurry and finish jobs. (Jobs are not often done well.) The otter personality is like Tigger in Winnie The Pooh.

Strength: People person, open, positive
Weakness: Talks too much, too permissive
Limitation: Remembering past commitments, follow through with discipline

Lion- This personality likes to lead. The lion is good at making decisions and is very goal-oriented. They enjoy challenges, difficult assignments, and opportunity for advancement. Because lions are thinking of the goal, they can step on people to reach it. Lions can be very aggressive and competitive. Lions must learn not to be too bossy or to take charge in other’s affairs.

Strength: Goal-oriented, strong, direct
Weakness: Argumentative, too dictatorial
Limitation: Doesn’t understand that directness can hurt others, hard time expressing grace

[E]xperience

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

I was raised in a Christian home, never knowing to challenge what I was taught until I got older. I was saved at 6 yrs old, and grew in my faith as I grew in stature. Challenged things a lot more as I got older, tried a few things I shouldn’t have, but ultimately, always felt a relationship with God, and always interested in ministry.

Ministry Experience (Where I have served in the past, if applicable, including ChurchName, City/State, Position, Years Involved):

Served at First Baptist Church Plainview, Plainvew, TX 4.5 year, 2 years with children and the rest with youth, paid with kids, volunteered with youth, teaching Sunday school, went to camp, etc…

East Tucson Baptist Church, Tucson, AZ youth minister for about 4 years on staff

Prescott Pines Camp, Prescott AZ, program coordinator for 3 years on staff

List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:

Sales Management, taught me how to be organized, inspire a team, meet goals, and be bold in sales, and relational to get people to trust me and then buy stuff

Camp Management, taught me how to work with many churches all at once, find a team spirit, train staff, and pay attention to detail without losing big picture sight of ministry

People, many poured into my life as encouragers, teachers, and some showed me what not to do.

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

Bad management at the YMCA and eventually PPC, taught me people management is so important, details and documentation are important, and making people feel valued is imperative

Seeing churches that don’t change, watching good people leave church because of stubborn leaders

Seeing mentors be very human and change your perception of them as a human being, teaches me to be real from the very beginning with others, be very flawed so no one makes a misconception and then do life with people, don’t try to always “coach” others into seeing only the good things in my life

Wrapping It Up

The Challenge: Based upon your S.H.A.P.E. Assessment above (the way God wired you), If you knew you couldn’t fail … and ‘lack of money, or time’ was not an obstacle… list your Top 3 Things you would ‘Focus’ your Life on, next to #1 Loving God & #2 Loving Your Neighbor (these would be your ‘3 God-Sized Dreams’ for your life)?

1. My Relationship with GOD

2. My Relationship with Others

  • Putting Your Spouse First
  • Your Kids Second
  • Everyone Else After those

3. having a successful ministry and feeling like I have something to offer

4. Being able to “graduate” out of my current role because others have stepped up and I have grown enough to take on something bigger

5. Being able to one day offer a place of retreat for church ministers where they get to escape everyday ministry and get poured into and refreshed at a beautiful place- with horses.
