S.H.A.P.E. Assessment Results

Thank you Melissa Murdock for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. #1 Gift, Administration (50%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I come from a background of addiction and have spent many years in 12-step programs. I was saved at the age of 13 and went astray due to drugs and alcohol. I led back to Jesus at 19 years old in county jail going through withdrawals from opiates. I have been in recovery for over almost 12 years, and have been delivered from my addictions and that lifestyle. I have come from the lowest and darkest pits of misery, to now having a good life and real happiness. I have a husband and 2 year old daughter, a bachelors degree and a medical informatics career, I own a home and have found true freedom in Christ. While i was blessed to be given a second chance, I witnessed many people I love succumb to their addiction, including my own brother just over a month ago. I know in my heart that the story that I once was ashamed to tell has the potential to help people, and I am ready to be used. Whatever that may look like.

#2 Gift, Evangelism (50%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I have learned to forgiveness through the 12-steps and through the example of the Lord, and I try to carry that example with me as I go though my life. I have had to also learn to forgive myself and overcome shame and regret for the trauma I allowed myself to endure in my adolescence and early adulthood. I had to learn to love myself and to truly love others and to be of service through the program. I want to share that it is possible, and that showing loving and serving others is a gift and vital to healing and transforming.

#3 Gift, Exhortation/Encouragement (50%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
In the past I have been reluctant to share my story and even my faith, due to how I once lived, out of fear of judgement. I have learned that this only keeps God from receiving the glory and the credit that he rightly deserves. I would not be here had I not called out to him in the depths of my addiction, and had he not spared me and given me a second chance. I feel a calling to share the possibilities of what he can do if we are open to receiving him. I regret not sharing as much as I should have with my brother before his passing, and I want to be a beacon of light for others who share in this struggle.

Your Primary was ‘The Lion’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Retriever’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God

Lion- This personality likes to lead. The lion is good at making decisions and is very goal-oriented. They enjoy challenges, difficult assignments, and opportunity for advancement. Because lions are thinking of the goal, they can step on people to reach it. Lions can be very aggressive and competitive. Lions must learn not to be too bossy or to take charge in other’s affairs.

Strength: Goal-oriented, strong, direct
Weakness: Argumentative, too dictatorial
Limitation: Doesn’t understand that directness can hurt others, hard time expressing grace

Golden Retriever- Good at making friends. Very loyal. Retriever personalities do not like big changes. They look for security. Can be very sensitive. Very caring. Has deep relationships, but usually only a couple of close friends. Wants to be loved by everyone. Looks for appreciation. Works best in a limited situation with a steady work pattern.

Strength: Accommodating, calm, affirming
Weakness: Indecisive, indifferent, unable to express emotional, too soft on other people
Limitation: Seeing the need to be more assertive, holding others accountable
