S.H.A.P.E. Assessment Results

Thank you Andrew Aeschlimann for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. May God Bless You!

The two greatest commandments: love God & love others. If this is God’s heart, it should be mine too.

[H]eart

Three things I love to do that bring joy and fulfillment in my life:

1. Worship: whether it is accompanied by music, or an expression of obedience to what God has said, or another creative expression of love for God.

2. Creating: making something of worth from materials that would be discarded by most.

3. Serving: spending time with people, especially family, helping them however I can.

Who I love to work with most, and the age or type of people:

The outsiders, geeks & nerds, different cultures, the ones who think their background or age excludes them.

Church issues, ministries, or possible needs that excite or concern me the most:

New creation message: releasing people from their past into a whole new world of possibilities in Jesus.
Gifts of the Holy Spirit: are pentecostal churches losing their “pentecostalness”

Your Primary was ‘The Lion’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Otter’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God

Lion- This personality likes to lead. The lion is good at making decisions and is very goal-oriented. They enjoy challenges, difficult assignments, and opportunity for advancement. Because lions are thinking of the goal, they can step on people to reach it. Lions can be very aggressive and competitive. Lions must learn not to be too bossy or to take charge in other’s affairs.

Strength: Goal-oriented, strong, direct
Weakness: Argumentative, too dictatorial
Limitation: Doesn’t understand that directness can hurt others, hard time expressing grace

Otter- Otters are very social creature. Otter personalities love people. They enjoys being popular and influencing and motivating others. Otter can sometimes be hurt when people do not like them. Otter personalities usually have lots of friends, but not deep relationships. They love to goof-off. (They are notorious for messy rooms.) Otters like to hurry and finish jobs. (Jobs are not often done well.) The otter personality is like Tigger in Winnie The Pooh.

Strength: People person, open, positive
Weakness: Talks too much, too permissive
Limitation: Remembering past commitments, follow through with discipline

[E]xperience

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

First responded to a salvation call at 5 years old, but can’t remember it. As a teen, I was afraid of being left out if I rededicated my life to Jesus, until I realised I would be left out if I didn’t. I took a long time to ‘count the cost’ of my decision, now nothing could shake me.

Ministry Experience (Where I have served in the past, if applicable, including ChurchName, City/State, Position, Years Involved):

Leongatha CRC, Leongatha, Victoria: musician, youth group leader, study group leader, organising committees, in a small church you do a bit of everything.

Silver City CRC, Broken Hill, NSW: musician, music director, tech director.

Impact, Broken Hill, NSW: musician, prayer group leader, worship focused home group leader.

List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:

Growing up in my family. Ministry opportunities from a young age, service in all areas of the church, mission trips to the outback and beyond, seeing the power of God in healing the sick and ‘freeing the captives’.

Getting married to a fellow geek who had similar feelings of isolation in her youth, interests in geek culture, worshippers heart, and the courage to follow her dreams.

Meeting my now brother-in-law. His personality was so big and nothing was impossible. It lead to playing in bands, jumping off cliffs, exploring, all the things I really wanted to do, but was too afraid to do on my own.

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

Raising kids with disabilities. They have the same problems as everyone else, but more so. If you can lean how to grow a kid with disabilities, you can lean to how to grow anyone.

Marriage problems. It all takes work, some things more than others, but always worth it in the end.

The death of one of my closest friends as a young adult. It put a new perspective on Heaven, trusting God, the future. I felt old at a very young age.

Wrapping It Up

The Challenge: Based upon your S.H.A.P.E. Assessment above (the way God wired you), If you knew you couldn’t fail … and ‘lack of money, or time’ was not an obstacle… list your Top 3 Things you would ‘Focus’ your Life on, next to #1 Loving God & #2 Loving Your Neighbor (these would be your ‘3 God-Sized Dreams’ for your life)?

1. My Relationship with GOD

2. My Relationship with Others

  • Putting Your Spouse First
  • Your Kids Second
  • Everyone Else After those

3. Travel, encourage and build up churches and individuals (especially small churches) where they are at.

4. Missions trip

5. Finish writing my book on God’s love/discipleship
