#1 Gift, Exhortation/Encouragement (87%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I’m very sympathetic and empathetic to most situations and if I can help serve people in need I love to do so. I have always tried to be a helper and be there for others even if they aren’t so much for me.

#2 Gift, Serving (87%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I think I’m like this because I’m always hard on myself and take things hard. I don’t want people to ever feel so down the way I have so I love to encourage and uplift others. If I can help their day become better just because of something I say or do that makes me happy to know I helped them.

#3 Gift, Teaching (84%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I love to help people in general and teaching is a great way to do that. Whether it be about the Bible and Jesus or just everyday tasks in life I want to help and teach you.

[H]eart

Three things I love to do that bring joy and fulfillment in my life:

1. Helping Broken/Hurting people or people who aren’t as well off as I am.

2. Music whether it’s worship at church for my God or watching and awesome musical and seeing the talent that he has given people.

3. I love the beauty you can find in different cultures and nature. They are so different yet so similar in some ways. They are natural things that people or our surroundings have you can see God in so many ways when you look at nature or someone’s culture.

Who I love to work with most, and the age or type of people:

I have always had a good understanding and been able to talk and connect with adults. When I say that I mean people who are at least 10 plus years older than me. I’ve always had a hard time connecting to people my age and I seem to be on more of a level playing field with older people. I feel like I’m definitely an old soul. But I’ve also always had such a place in my heart for children of all ages they are so full of life and you can learn so much more than you would ever think from their sweet and kind hearts.

Church issues, ministries, or possible needs that excite or concern me the most:

There are a lot but my heart beats for missions. I have always had a strong burn in my heart for missions and I feel like I haven’t yet found the right time for that to fully come to fruition. I also have a huge heart for teens and adults who are hurting/ broken in some way. I have felt a lot of hurt emotionally and I just have a passion to help people through that.

Your Primary was ‘The Retriever’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Lion’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God

Golden Retriever- Good at making friends. Very loyal. Retriever personalities do not like big changes. They look for security. Can be very sensitive. Very caring. Has deep relationships, but usually only a couple of close friends. Wants to be loved by everyone. Looks for appreciation. Works best in a limited situation with a steady work pattern.

Strength: Accommodating, calm, affirming
Weakness: Indecisive, indifferent, unable to express emotional, too soft on other people
Limitation: Seeing the need to be more assertive, holding others accountable

Lion- This personality likes to lead. The lion is good at making decisions and is very goal-oriented. They enjoy challenges, difficult assignments, and opportunity for advancement. Because lions are thinking of the goal, they can step on people to reach it. Lions can be very aggressive and competitive. Lions must learn not to be too bossy or to take charge in other’s affairs.

Strength: Goal-oriented, strong, direct
Weakness: Argumentative, too dictatorial
Limitation: Doesn’t understand that directness can hurt others, hard time expressing grace

[E]xperience

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

I always grew up thinking I was a Christian because I went to church every week and attended Sunday school and then one day it truly hit me. Just because I knew about God didn’t mean that I knew God. The pastor at our church would always ask when we were getting ready to pray if anyone needs prayer and doesn’t know if they would be going to heaven raise your hand. I raised my hand for a couple weeks because I had that realization earlier. My pastors wife one day came up to me and asked me if I was saved by Jesus and if I asked him to come into my heart. I told her that I hadn’t and she went through the Bible with me and asked if I believed the things that we read in the verses. I did and she asked me if I wanted to ask Jesus to be my savior and to have him in my heart forever and we prayed calling out to god to save me from my sins.

Ministry Experience (Where I have served in the past, if applicable, including ChurchName, City/State, Position, Years Involved):

I have only served at Grace. I started out in children’s ministry/Next Jr for about two years I believe. I loved the kids and getting to be around them but I wasn’t feeling community with the volunteers or even some of the staff in Next. I have now transferred over to 678/youth ministry and I feel like I truly belong with the kids and the the volunteers and staff I’ve only been a part of 678 for about 4 months now but I love it and have been promoted to service leader.

List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:

I had two really strong relationships with leaders at a church camp that I went to when I was in junior high and that really shaped me into who I am today. One was the director of the whole camp and he treated me like family and invested his time and energy in really getting to know me and looking after me. The other person was one of my leaders a lady who was with me day in and day out she helped me see what a great leader can be and what an amazing would looks like. I don’t think I’ve ever seen better examples of Christ and of Gods love through his followers than through those two. I still think about their impact in my life all the time and how I wish I could even be a quarter of the people that they are.

Meeting the love of my life has really changed who I am as a person. I used to be too independent before I met him honestly and he has made me realize I can depend on others sometimes. He teaches me patient and how about love all the time. He is the most patient and loving person I’ve ever met. I’m not always the easiest person to be around and he chooses me everyday over and over again for four years straight. He broke down a lot of my walls and that is something I will forever be thankful for.

My experience in choir and team sports has shaped me so much. It’s taught me about teamwork but also about how your part is just as important even if it’s not the biggest part. Like Christ talks about us being a part of the body. I have truly gotten to see and experience that through my experience in choir and soccer.

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

The biggest one has to be my anorexia and depression. I was in such a dark place for two years it was honestly super hard. My faith and belief in God was honestly what pulled me out of it. It also is one reason that my heart is so for hurting and broken people because I was one. I love helping others because I never want them to feel a pain and heartache like I did. If I can even help one person get out of that and show them their worth and love through God I will feel fulfilled.

Another thing that shaped me a lot was moving around a couple times. It pushed me to get out of my comfort zone and get to know people because I knew I couldn’t go through life alone. That’s one way that I really got to understand and know people in different experiences and have such and open mind and heart to all kinds of people.

I feel like sometimes it’s hard for things that I do to get noticed which has been hard. I don’t think I need/deserve credit but it feels like I get overlooked a lot. It’s taught me a lot about God and who he was. He was never looked at by the masses and recognized as the Messiah only few saw that. So I’ve become more content with the fact that my work isn’t always made for recognition or the spotlight. I’m needed as a follower sometimes more than a leader and not everyone will know what I did but the few who do know and see it are enough. What I do is enough no matter if I get anything in return ever and I’ve become more content in that life of serving.

Wrapping It Up

The Challenge: Based upon your S.H.A.P.E. Assessment above (the way God wired you), If you knew you couldn’t fail … and ‘lack of money, or time’ was not an obstacle… list your Top 3 Things you would ‘Focus’ your Life on, next to #1 Loving God & #2 Loving Your Neighbor (these would be your ‘3 God-Sized Dreams’ for your life)?

1. My Relationship with GOD

2. My Relationship with Others

  • Putting Your Spouse First
  • Your Kids Second
  • Everyone Else After those

3. Be a Missionary

4. Have a Non profit homeless shelter to help them get on their feet and get back to a normal life. One that didn’t have to turn people away and start a chain throughout the world that leaders could help fund to keep going.

5. Start a mentor ship program for young people or anyone who falls into depression or self harm where someone who has come out of it can mentor a person currently going through that in their life.
