S.H.A.P.E. Assessment Results

Thank you Annick Maddox for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. May God Bless You!

#1 Gift, Evangelism (71%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
Hmm, I don’t know if I have this gift to be honest, but I do enjoy talking about Jesus and how He has changed my life. I like to talk in general!

#2 Gift, Teaching (71%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
Not sure I have this gift either… and I am not sure I understand this spiritual gift besides tithing.

#3 Gift, Giving (65%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
This is probably true. My father was a professor and that was his passion. I naturally have some of that passion as well, as I don’t mind having the attention of a room on myself and I do like teaching new things to people. Even something as simple as leading a group stretch.

[H]eart

Three things I love to do that bring joy and fulfillment in my life:

1. Speaking up for the voiceless – especially animals. I know I’m supposed to say people, but if I am being honest I have a serious passion and heart for God’s creation.

2. Speaking the truth, gently! I will never forget Pastor Clay’s sermon on this. I have always oddly enjoyed pointing out the truth even when it’s uncomfortable. Pastor Clay taught me that it’s important to do so, and that Jesus even calls us to speak out against injustice and falsehoods, but to do it in a loving and gentle way.

3. Simpler things… Enjoying a good meal with friends and family. Cooking. Reading. Playing video games (this is how my husband and I met!). Traveling to different places in the world and learning how other people live day in and day out ( I did this a lot with my family growing up).

Who I love to work with most, and the age or type of people:

I actually enjoy working with older people most, between 50-70 ish. I think because that is the age of my parents and growing up I used to hang out with my parents all the time. Sometimes more than friends my own age!

Church issues, ministries, or possible needs that excite or concern me the most:

I used to volunteer at my old church’s food pantry and I LOVED it. I loved providing something like food to those in need. I actually lead the program for a bit I was so into it.

A need that piques my interest is personal finance, marriage, and hunger. The first two almost go hand in hand. And hunger can be a tied in with personal finance as well.

A major church issue, that I think BBC handles very well, is politics and “American Christianity.” So many Christians and churches think Jesus is only for Americans, or only for a certain type of people and use that to justify evil. For example, the families being separated right now at the border of our state. Our own President justifies his insensitive policy because they came here illegally. So they deserve it. Where is the GRACE in that? Good grief can you imagine if we all got what we truly deserve? Not to mention the bible says to take care of the foreigner. Justifying evil acts in the name of Jesus greatly concern me, especially when it comes from my own government.

*Mark the Top 3 from the list, that Trigger a Passion in You

Poverty/hunger
Policy/politics
Other – Stewardship of the Earth/God’s Creation, Caring for Creation.

[A]bilities

My current vocation:

Operations Manager. I run the office of a small business but have oversight, jurisdiction, and quality control over all departments.

Other jobs I have experience in:

Environmental Education, Habitat Conservation, Bank Telling, Barista, Party Host for kids!

Special talents/skills that I have:

I have been dancing off and on since I was 2 years old, and I was part of every single major theatre production my High School did in the 4 years I was there. Also I know a wealth of information on what the world now calls “clean eating” and “non-toxic living.” My parents taught me because that’s just how people lived in the “old world.”

I have taught a class or seminar on:

Essential Oils! I am a huge non-toxic living lifestyle enthusiast (as briefly mentioned above).

This one we (my husband and I) facilitated more than actually taught, but Financial Peace University. I believe Financial Stewardship goes hand and hand with marriage/family issues and poverty/hunger.

I feel my most valuable personal asset is:

The willingness and deep need to make a difference.

Your Primary was ‘The Lion’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Beaver’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God

Lion- This personality likes to lead. The lion is good at making decisions and is very goal-oriented. They enjoy challenges, difficult assignments, and opportunity for advancement. Because lions are thinking of the goal, they can step on people to reach it. Lions can be very aggressive and competitive. Lions must learn not to be too bossy or to take charge in other’s affairs.

Strength: Goal-oriented, strong, direct
Weakness: Argumentative, too dictatorial
Limitation: Doesn’t understand that directness can hurt others, hard time expressing grace

Beaver- Organized. Beavers think that there is a right way to do everything and they want to do it exactly that way. Beaver personalities are very creative. They desire to solve everything. Desire to take their time and do it right. Beavers do not like sudden changes. They need reassurance.

Strength: High standards, order, respect
Weakness: Unrealistic expectations of self & others, too perfect.
Limitation: Seeing the optimistic side of things, expressing flexibility

[E]xperience

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

I lost my job ALL of a sudden. I had just moved out, had my boyfriend move in with me, and also just graduated college top of my class. This was a shot out of NOWHERE. The first thing I thought of was well we need to prepare and we need food, so let’s go to a food pantry. We walked into a church and the pastor just so happened to walk across the hall at the exact moment we walked in. He prayed for us, the people serving us food prayed for us (VERY humbling being on the other side of food pantry), and the rest is history. We returned to that church for service and to also volunteer in the food pantry (we had done so in the past at my now husband’s church back home so it was something familiar).

Ministry Experience (Where I have served in the past, if applicable, including ChurchName, City/State, Position, Years Involved):

Church in GA (can’t remember the name but can find out if really needed) Food Pantry in the Summer of 2012

First Baptist Church Oak Hill Food Pantry 2013-2014

Financial Peace University Coordinator Bannockburn Spring 2018

List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:

My father. Growing up he taught me to respect all life and encouraged my interest in natural science and theatre growing up. He, and my mom, always told me I could do anything I want if I just work hard enough for it.

Following my heart to meet someone I had never met in person halfway across the nation. Turned out to be my husband 🙂

Meeting my husband’s family. I had never met such happy and grateful people in my life. They showed me before I was a believer what true believers look like!

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

My parents not accepting my faith or my husband. To the point where I had to send them a letter saying as long as they put down my faith in Jesus and continued to make my husband and I feel unwelcome and unloved, then we would need space and could only love and pray from them afar. It became extremely toxic and unhealthy to be around them for a time.

This sort of goes with my previous answer, but my father challenged me the most in defending my faith between 2013 up until his death in 2017. He was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer that when you google it only 2 pages come up. A wikipedia page that is embarrassingly empty, and a small .org website made by ordinary people just trying to gather any information.

In 2008-2010 my parents were having marital issues that my mom blamed me for and threw me out of the house once. I had to find a hotel to stay in for 1 night because I didn’t know where else to go.

Wrapping It Up

The Challenge: Based upon your S.H.A.P.E. Assessment above (the way God wired you), If you knew you couldn’t fail … and ‘lack of money, or time’ was not an obstacle… list your Top 3 Things you would ‘Focus’ your Life on, next to #1 Loving God & #2 Loving Your Neighbor (these would be your ‘3 God-Sized Dreams’ for your life)?

1. My Relationship with GOD

2. My Relationship with Others

  • Putting Your Spouse First
  • Your Kids Second
  • Everyone Else After those

3. To help animals in most need and educate the public

4. To go on a missionary trip once a year

5. To volunteer at a community center or the church, to somehow offer counsel, or just a listening ear to people who are down and out and really want to help and do better. I could teach them how to make a monthly budget and set financial goals for the future. I could teach them stretches to relax before bedtime, how to use essential oils as an alternative way of healing, etc.
