S.H.A.P.E. Assessment Results
Thank you Ashley Klotz for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. May God Bless You!

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I have seen first hand how serving can change the heart of the receiver and the person server. I also know that I am able to do behind the scene things so that others don’t have to worry about it and shine in their calling.
This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
God has blessed Nik and I with so much, so why wouldn’t we share it. Nothing we have is ours to begin with 🙂
This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I think by having kids this has increased as we learn how to teach on their level.
[H]eart
1. Getting things organized. There is just a sense of order when things have their place, and it makes preparation less time consuming.
2. Working behind the scene. I am not a fan of being up front – but I love being able to watch people shine because they don’t have to worry about the little details.
3. Watching kiddos grow. This is a new one growing inside me. I have always worked with younger kids, but because of where my kids are at, I love watching the elementary kids growing up in their faith and starting to make it their own.
The kiddos. Elementary and younger. I do love the walkers, but I’m starting to really love talking and getting to know the upper elementary age too.
There seems to be 2 types of people serving (i’m totally stereotyping here). Those that do so much they get burnt out and those that don’t do anything. There should be a common ground where those 2 groups meet in the middle – but I have no idea what that is. This is a concern, but I have no conclusion on what can be done.

An administrative assistant.
I have also worked in retail, as a nanny, and in a woodworking shop.
Organizing, details
When living in Mexico, I helped co-lead VBS.
Seeing a need and trying to find a way to meet that need. I’m doing better on letting others meet the need too!

Your Primary was ‘The Retriever’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Beaver’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God
Golden Retriever- Good at making friends. Very loyal. Retriever personalities do not like big changes. They look for security. Can be very sensitive. Very caring. Has deep relationships, but usually only a couple of close friends. Wants to be loved by everyone. Looks for appreciation. Works best in a limited situation with a steady work pattern.
Strength: Accommodating, calm, affirming
Weakness: Indecisive, indifferent, unable to express emotional, too soft on other people
Limitation: Seeing the need to be more assertive, holding others accountable
Beaver- Organized. Beavers think that there is a right way to do everything and they want to do it exactly that way. Beaver personalities are very creative. They desire to solve everything. Desire to take their time and do it right. Beavers do not like sudden changes. They need reassurance.
Strength: High standards, order, respect
Weakness: Unrealistic expectations of self & others, too perfect.
Limitation: Seeing the optimistic side of things, expressing flexibility
[E]xperience
I lived off of my parent’s faith for many years, saying and doing the right thing. It wasn’t until a mission trip to Mexico when I was in high school that I truly found out what it was to have a true relationship with our Creator.
3 months in Mexico, helped co-lead a VBS that we did every week in different villages, involving volunteer groups that came from the states.
1 year living at the Great Lakes Discipleship Center in New Haven, IN. I made sure our facility has an organized schedule, stayed clean, and prepared rooms/itineraries for guest speakers.
Warsaw Community Church – 3 years as a small group leader for 5th & 6th graders.
Living in Mexico for 9 months. Changed my life perspective in every aspect!
Attending the Great Lakes Discipleship Center. It was here that I first learned that I don’t always agree with someone giving the message. Always check against what the Bible says. Many teachers taught me so much, but 2 made me really know what I believe.
Bible Memory camp in elementary school. So many of these verses that I had to memorize are still with me today!
The first thing was when I was a junior in high school and I had to watch my grandma suffer through cancer. We begged God for healing or to just take her home and we watched her suffer for so long. This is the first time I remember really being mad that God didn’t answer a prayer. It was here I realized, God wants honesty! Changed my prayer life forever.
When I was 20, I had first come home from the mission field and I was questioned by a new pastor at the church I had attended as a child. He put me down, the organization down, and started ripping me down as a person. At this point, I realized that even though you have a Pastor title, you may not be a true pastor.
When Nik and I first got married, we had nothing. We were all in the recession, I had just moved back to Indiana and started a job at the bottom, and we were literally on our knees for God to provide. Not that this was a negative experience, but this was a life changing experience. Never before have I cried out for a physical need knowing only God could provide it. Not only did Nik and I grow closer, but we learned what being fully dependent on God was.
Wrapping It Up
The Challenge: Based upon your S.H.A.P.E. Assessment above (the way God wired you), If you knew you couldn’t fail … and ‘lack of money, or time’ was not an obstacle… list your Top 3 Things you would ‘Focus’ your Life on, next to #1 Loving God & #2 Loving Your Neighbor (these would be your ‘3 God-Sized Dreams’ for your life)?
1. My Relationship with GOD
2. My Relationship with Others
- Putting Your Spouse First
- Your Kids Second
- Everyone Else After those
3. Providing a safe place. My dream has been to have a barn with a secret living space in it for people who need a safe place to go and live for a short time.
4. Having a farm with tons of animals. Bringing in kids to teach them what it mean to care for something, having chores, doing some physical labor away from a screen, and getting some fresh air.
5. Having a transition house for those returning from a mission field far away from home. I had major culture shock coming home from Mexico and there was no easy way to jump back in to life at home.
