#1 Gift, Serving (87%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
This is something that comes more natural to me. It’s probably the reason I became a nurse and found a job that revolved around helping others.

#2 Gift, Evangelism (75%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I grew up in a poverty-stricken, politically corrupt, and broken third-world country (Venezuela) where from a young age I realized that the only way for people’s lives to improve was and is through the Gospel. Growing up seeing how the gospel transformed lives cemented in my head that the transforming power of salvation and the gospel was what the world and people around me need more than anything else.

#3 Gift, Giving (68%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I also think this has to do with my upbringing. Most of my friends growing up who were Venezuelans did not have much, it made poverty real. I’ve always enjoyed being able to be generous with what God has given me.

Your Primary was ‘The Beaver’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Retriever’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God

Beaver- Organized. Beavers think that there is a right way to do everything and they want to do it exactly that way. Beaver personalities are very creative. They desire to solve everything. Desire to take their time and do it right. Beavers do not like sudden changes. They need reassurance.

Strength: High standards, order, respect
Weakness: Unrealistic expectations of self & others, too perfect.
Limitation: Seeing the optimistic side of things, expressing flexibility

Golden Retriever- Good at making friends. Very loyal. Retriever personalities do not like big changes. They look for security. Can be very sensitive. Very caring. Has deep relationships, but usually only a couple of close friends. Wants to be loved by everyone. Looks for appreciation. Works best in a limited situation with a steady work pattern.

Strength: Accommodating, calm, affirming
Weakness: Indecisive, indifferent, unable to express emotional, too soft on other people
Limitation: Seeing the need to be more assertive, holding others accountable

[E]xperience

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

I was born a missionary kid in Venezuela. I grew up knowing the Bible and about salvation but never accepted Christ as my savior. I was not ready to follow Christ and was just apathetic towards the idea of taking up my own cross. Since high school I had felt called to missions. I knew that the greatest thing I could do with my life was to follow Christ and tell others about what Jesus had done for them but again, I rejected God’s calling in my life. Instead, I decided to go to college to get a degree in Nursing. It was a cop-out. I was Jonah fleeing from what God had called me to do. I told myself that by becoming a nurse I would be helping others and if I had time I could share the gospel too. The transition from Venezuela to the USA for college was a rough transition. Being away from my parents, friends, church, home country, and all that I was accustomed to made me feel extremely lonely. But the biggest shock was realizing that my parent’s faith had not come with me. God really showed me during this time that my parent’s faith would not save me. I had to believe the truth of the Bible on my own, and accept it out of my own free will. So I started reading the Bible, not because I was encouraged to or told to, but because I wanted to. And through it the Bible became truth to me. Salvation became personal and I understood grace. As cliche as it sounds it was passages like Luke 15:11 (prodigal son) where God broke me down. I was tired of being lonely and trying to earn salvation on my own efforts. I accepted Jesus as my savior, realizing that my life would not (and could not) continue the way it was. I was already three years into my nursing degree and decided to finish the degree out since time and money had already been invested and then go on to work 2 years in a hospital setting to get experience with the ultimate goal of leaving nursing to become a missionary. I made the choice not out of obligation but because I finally recognized and felt the burden of lost people.

Ministry Experience (Where I have served in the past, if applicable, including ChurchName, City/State, Position, Years Involved):

Sunday school teacher 2006-2008, Iglesia Siempre con Cristo, Venezuela.

Administrative assistant to Children’s Pastor, Keys Vineyard Community Church, Big Pine Key, FL. 2014, 1 year.

Missions intern, Ancona, Italy. 2017 for 3 months (May-August). Taught English with “Let’s Talk English, Ancona!”. Sharing gospel and testimony with all students.

List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:

Team Expansion’s Traveling Team- spent a summer traveling to church camps and youth groups with two other college-aged co-workers and mobilized people to pray for unreached people groups, to support missionaries, and encouraged those called to missions to get involved. God really confirmed to me that summer my own call to missions.

Growing up as a missionary kid – It formed my perspective of the world and the need for missionaries. My dad always told me he had the best job in the world, and I can now say that I know what he meant when he said that.

Being a nurse – broke me out of the Christian “bubble” so to speak, and challenged me to grow in my faith in a secular setting.

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

Being a nurse- Nurses can experience a range of abuse (mainly verbal) from those who are physically and emotionally ill and hurting. Being a nurse has probably been one of the most frustrating, draining, and challenging experiences of my life. Everyday I’ve spent with patients has challenged me to see them as made in the image of God, as loved by God and to treat them as such.

Being a missionary kid – this has mainly been a positive experience in my life, but it’s also made me realize that being a MK or child of parents in ministry can be challenging. I’ve always felt for the unique struggles that MK’s go through, from moving countries, not having a home, or identity, and struggling to figure out faith. Having outside pressure to “be good” and thus causing them to see faith as something gained by good works. God has brought me through those challenges but I still feel for those who go through them.
