S.H.A.P.E. Assessment Results

Thank you Bruce T Lane for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. #1 Gift, Evangelism (93%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I have learned from experience about how important it is to know the truth. To be able to share it with others is shining the light into their darkness. I asked God to show me the truth and he did. Now I must use it wisely and effectively to bring others into the true word.

#2 Gift, Giving (93%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I was blessed in a way that enables me to receive income because of some events that occurred in my life. In a way that still allows me to live a productive life and keep myself alive. I give to others because I took for so long & to give back is a blessing & something that I WANT to do. I spent thousands on drugs & alcohol, to give tithings to me is redirecting my finances to where it can be most effective in God`s house.

#3 Gift, Exhortation/Encouragement (90%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I believe in cheering on my teammates even when we`re losing. I always try to look at the positives in situations & tell folks that we will get through this. “This too shall pass” is one of my favorite sayings. We all need some uplifting sometimes & to see the results are the rewards.

[H]eart

Three things I love to do that bring joy and fulfillment in my life:

1. I love being able to finish something I started and being able plant a seed and see it grow. When the job is done and all the t`s are crossed and the i`s are dotted, then I can say a job well done. My vision & hope for the future is what fires me up!

2. When I see a beautiful family & in love, it just makes my heart smile. And to see the Lord`s work being done in their lives is heartwarming. I think that is such a gift.

3. My heart beats for the underdog, the person whom everyone overlooks but is just the most loving, awesome person you`d ever want to meet. The team who everyone counted out but we`re destined for the title no matter what the odds. My heart beats for JESUS CHRIST who was ridiculed & spat on & laughed at & was crucified, CRUCIFIED! for trying to save those same tormentors. My heart beats for God, because of God & from God.

Who I love to work with most, and the age or type of people:

Anyone who doesn`t tell me to sit down and shut up.

Church issues, ministries, or possible needs that excite or concern me the most:

I love the baptisms, the opportunities to pray with the prayer team, the fellowship. I feel like it is a safe secure environment & the location is perfect.

Your Primary was ‘The Retriever’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Lion’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God

Golden Retriever- Good at making friends. Very loyal. Retriever personalities do not like big changes. They look for security. Can be very sensitive. Very caring. Has deep relationships, but usually only a couple of close friends. Wants to be loved by everyone. Looks for appreciation. Works best in a limited situation with a steady work pattern.

Strength: Accommodating, calm, affirming
Weakness: Indecisive, indifferent, unable to express emotional, too soft on other people
Limitation: Seeing the need to be more assertive, holding others accountable

Lion- This personality likes to lead. The lion is good at making decisions and is very goal-oriented. They enjoy challenges, difficult assignments, and opportunity for advancement. Because lions are thinking of the goal, they can step on people to reach it. Lions can be very aggressive and competitive. Lions must learn not to be too bossy or to take charge in other’s affairs.

Strength: Goal-oriented, strong, direct
Weakness: Argumentative, too dictatorial
Limitation: Doesn’t understand that directness can hurt others, hard time expressing grace

[E]xperience

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

I was clean and sober for a time & knew about God but didn`t KNOW God. Man`s laws & my ignorance was keeping me out of the light. I ultimately had to open that door & let him in. I watched two once prominent men drink themselves to death. I remember saying “Lord I`ve seen enough”. I gave away all my alcohol & started my journey with Jesus. That was December 29, 2016. I was baptized on April 30, 2023. Since then my walk hasn`t been easy but it`s been necessary & rewarding. I am constantly being challenged but know that I am one of his children. I know I have a cross to bear & I do it with passion.

Ministry Experience (Where I have served in the past, if applicable, including ChurchName, City/State, Position, Years Involved):

I have never served in any capacity other than one on one mentorship

List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:

When I finally listened to people & went to the VA for help, my recovery began & so did my walk with the lord even though I wasn`t aware at the time. I met Cyndi Leggett who was my counselor & just showed me who I was.

This sounds negative in a way but the disease I have still enables me to be of service to others and function at a level that most others can`t. I have deteriorating disc disease which means my neck is disintegrating.

Everyone in my family turned their back on me & then we got shutdown for a period of time. Some thought it was a negative event but I myself took advantage of the seclusion & got closer to the lord. Satan`s plan backfired because it just made me stronger. My faith grew tremendously during that time.

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

My alcoholism

My childhood which was pretty bad

bullying in school
