S.H.A.P.E. Assessment Results

Thank you Bee for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. #1 Gift, Teaching (78%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
by day i am a counselor at law. i enjoy learning but i don’t know that i always enjoy teaching others. i believe that teaching probably has more meaning than the traditional image of being in front of a class, so in that sense i can see myself as a teacher. sometimes i have conversations with my cousin about her life circumstances in the hopes that she makes the appropriate decision for her and not based off of what others think she should do. i guess that’s a form of teaching.

#2 Gift, Giving (65%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I enjoy shopping for myself, and for others. Sometimes i can go shopping and buy nothing for myself. because i am blessed to make the money that i make and not have to pay rent, i am in a position where i can buy people that are close to me gifts. I also recognize how blessed i am, and so i am able to send my tithes to the church. because i worked @ NBBC i also know that they are not shady with the money, so i don’t have a problem with sending the money to them.

#3 Gift, Serving (65%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
i don’t have to be the person in the front of the class or the line, but i am perfectly fine with knowing my knowledge and being 2nd chair. in some situations i don’t like for all the attention to be on me. more often than not @ NBBC when new plans were implemented, while i came up with the plans, i was not the public face to roll out the plans to the general public.

[H]eart

Three things I love to do that bring joy and fulfillment in my life:

1. Leisure reading-i love to get lost in a really good book

2. Listening to music through my headphones-music is a universal language

3. spending time with family and friends but not often

Who I love to work with most, and the age or type of people:

older people like my Grandma or Ms. Lillie Mae or Deaconess Proctor from New Bethel. Nice women who could make you feel loved but had a sweetness and festiveness about them.

Church issues, ministries, or possible needs that excite or concern me the most:

Excite-when churches engage in social justice
Concern-secrecy surrounding money and twisting the Bible for someone’s own views to the point where they cause negative treatment of those outside of mainstream society.

Your Primary was ‘The Beaver’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Lion’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God

Beaver- Organized. Beavers think that there is a right way to do everything and they want to do it exactly that way. Beaver personalities are very creative. They desire to solve everything. Desire to take their time and do it right. Beavers do not like sudden changes. They need reassurance.

Strength: High standards, order, respect
Weakness: Unrealistic expectations of self & others, too perfect.
Limitation: Seeing the optimistic side of things, expressing flexibility

Lion- This personality likes to lead. The lion is good at making decisions and is very goal-oriented. They enjoy challenges, difficult assignments, and opportunity for advancement. Because lions are thinking of the goal, they can step on people to reach it. Lions can be very aggressive and competitive. Lions must learn not to be too bossy or to take charge in other’s affairs.

Strength: Goal-oriented, strong, direct
Weakness: Argumentative, too dictatorial
Limitation: Doesn’t understand that directness can hurt others, hard time expressing grace

[E]xperience

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

I was baptized as a child around the age of 8. i felt like it was time and i felt in my heart that i wanted to walk up. i was baptized on the same day as my best friend.

Ministry Experience (Where I have served in the past, if applicable, including ChurchName, City/State, Position, Years Involved):

List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:

I saw that people thanked me for my work-i’ll never forget the standing ovation i got when it was announced that i was leaving. seeing Pete Cooper stand up was very touching to me, esp. since he is not someone who was a member of NBBC in my childhood.

having Amanda tell me that i did a good job working out the logistics for the scholarship concert. Amanda is a party planner, so having her give me that type of shout out was nice since she does that type of planning.

when i did the giving charge @ the scholarship concert. it was a complete adlib both years, and i got positive feedback from people i did and didn’t know. Fawne told me i should consider going into lobbying because i have a way with words.

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

when they let Maria go-i know she didn’t understand what they were telling her. she thought they were bringing onboard full time. when she found out that’s not the case, she cried. they should have known she was misinterpreting what they said.

having Deneen tell me she never wanted to see what i gave her for Jesse Hairston’s program again. while it wasn’t the best, Mrs. Linder and I were tired of them and just wanted it to be over with. She told me she said that she didn’t know what to do with me, and i knew the clock had already begun to run down before it was time to go. She was new and trying to learn her job and people, but i didn’t realize how much i didn’t care had already started to show at that point.

Meeting Meedie the first time-i didn’t care for some of the personality types of the incoming young adults. so when i met Meedie for the first time, i just assumed she was like them. She tried to make small talk with me in the bathroom and i smiled a little but that was it. I feel bad about that. i like her-she’s cool to me. How brit feels about her is not my business, esp. after she looked after Brit when she got sick that sunday. i learned that i have to check my feelings and not let them portray me in a negative light, so for new people in a situation trying to make friends and be friendly, now i try to say hi a little more
