S.H.A.P.E. Assessment Results

Thank you Pat Smith-Martin for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. May God Bless You!

#1 Gift, Teaching (62%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I have never taught. I have assisted. I am a good second ( a couple of times in charge by default). I have lived for 36 years as a Christian. I have had good instruction myself, and ample time to read, study and experience.

#2 Gift, Serving (59%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I prefer being out of the limelight.

#3 Gift, Evangelism (56%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I feel that most people think they know what Christianity is but do not know.
I haven’t ever felt like this is my strong point.

[H]eart

Three things I love to do that bring joy and fulfillment in my life:

1. I love the age 2-7 set. Whether with children that I worked with, my own children and now grandchildren, or kids at church, I feel that they bring out Joy and creativity in me.

2. I enjoy connecting one on one with people.

3. I enjoy nature.

Who I love to work with most, and the age or type of people:

Young children and old people. LOL

Church issues, ministries, or possible needs that excite or concern me the most:

I always feel that churches major on families and not people who are “other”.
Yet singles – young, old, middle; the divorced, widowed and unequally yoked
probably make up half the church population. I have spent much of my Christian life feeling like a square peg in a round hole at church.

*Mark the Top 3 from the list, that Trigger a Passion in You

Abortion/sanctity of Life
At-risk children
Other – Unequally yoked

Other jobs I have experience in:

Special talents/skills that I have:

None. Don’t ask me to cook, you will regret the result.

Your Primary was ‘The Retriever’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Beaver’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God

Golden Retriever- Good at making friends. Very loyal. Retriever personalities do not like big changes. They look for security. Can be very sensitive. Very caring. Has deep relationships, but usually only a couple of close friends. Wants to be loved by everyone. Looks for appreciation. Works best in a limited situation with a steady work pattern.

Strength: Accommodating, calm, affirming
Weakness: Indecisive, indifferent, unable to express emotional, too soft on other people
Limitation: Seeing the need to be more assertive, holding others accountable

Beaver- Organized. Beavers think that there is a right way to do everything and they want to do it exactly that way. Beaver personalities are very creative. They desire to solve everything. Desire to take their time and do it right. Beavers do not like sudden changes. They need reassurance.

Strength: High standards, order, respect
Weakness: Unrealistic expectations of self & others, too perfect.
Limitation: Seeing the optimistic side of things, expressing flexibility

[E]xperience

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

I decided to read the Bible (New Testament) to try to figure out why Jesus came. I already believe that the resurrection had actually happened. I stopped at John 14:6. I told Jesus that I was sorry that I thought that it didn’t matter what you believed as long as you were sincere. I told Him that if He would lead me, I would follow Him. That was 36 years ago. He led me.

Ministry Experience (Where I have served in the past, if applicable, including ChurchName, City/State, Position, Years Involved):

Calvary Bible Baptist Church, Rochester NY 1988 to 1995
Church Nursery

Lighthouse Bible Baptist Church, Sanford FL 1996-2001
Wednesday night primary grades

First Baptist Church Oviedo, Oviedo FL 2001-2015
Joy Ministry ( developmentally challenged kids, many with autism)

List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:

Having a loving upbringing, in a large (yet unsaved) family.

Being a Physical Therapist

Seeing my spouse come to Christ.

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

Being unequally yoked for 16 years.

Losing a spouse to a terminal disease.

I know that God made me an introvert, even so it has caused me difficulty throughout my life.

Wrapping It Up

The Challenge: Based upon your S.H.A.P.E. Assessment above (the way God wired you), If you knew you couldn’t fail … and ‘lack of money, or time’ was not an obstacle… list your Top 3 Things you would ‘Focus’ your Life on, next to #1 Loving God & #2 Loving Your Neighbor (these would be your ‘3 God-Sized Dreams’ for your life)?

1. My Relationship with GOD

2. My Relationship with Others

  • Putting Your Spouse First
  • Your Kids Second
  • Everyone Else After those

3. I would llike get rid of abortion. I think the more Christians there are the less abortion there would be.

4. I would like to grow the group that meets at my house (though I do not lead it). The group leader and I have discussed it.

5. I’d like to write a book.
