S.H.A.P.E. Assessment Results

Thank you Beth Klusmann for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. May God Bless You!

#1 Gift, Serving (71%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
It’s usually something I enjoy, although lately, work has kept me too busy (and too tired) to do much of it.

#2 Gift, Teaching (68%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I have a skill in communication – it’s part of my job as an attorney. I enjoy being able to simplify difficult concepts for others. But I worry I lack the time to do a good job at it.

#3 Gift, Giving (62%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I make more than I need and don’t have a particularly high standard of living. And I realize that I’ll have everything I could ever want in heaven, so there’s no need to try to obtain that here.

[H]eart

Three things I love to do that bring joy and fulfillment in my life:

1. Visiting my nephews and niece (in San Antonio). They are exhausting, but I love learning their little personalities and seeing them develop.

2. Sometimes work? That seems kind of a sad response. It can be stressful and exhausting, but when I win a case, it makes me forget the prior unpleasantness.

3. It’s a small thing, but I enjoy taking care of my yard and flowers. I never seem to mind making time for that, and I like seeing my flowers grow.

Who I love to work with most, and the age or type of people:

Probably people like me (single professionals) and elementary kids. I’ve led a fairly sheltered life, so I’m not the person you send to talk to drug addicts in prison.

Church issues, ministries, or possible needs that excite or concern me the most:

I’ve only made it to one Serve Day, but I’d like to do more. I like pulling weeds out of people’s yards 🙂 Having attended a number of church business meetings now, I am also interested in clearly communicating decisions and processes to the congregation.

Your Primary was ‘The Beaver’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Retriever’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God

Beaver- Organized. Beavers think that there is a right way to do everything and they want to do it exactly that way. Beaver personalities are very creative. They desire to solve everything. Desire to take their time and do it right. Beavers do not like sudden changes. They need reassurance.

Strength: High standards, order, respect
Weakness: Unrealistic expectations of self & others, too perfect.
Limitation: Seeing the optimistic side of things, expressing flexibility

Golden Retriever- Good at making friends. Very loyal. Retriever personalities do not like big changes. They look for security. Can be very sensitive. Very caring. Has deep relationships, but usually only a couple of close friends. Wants to be loved by everyone. Looks for appreciation. Works best in a limited situation with a steady work pattern.

Strength: Accommodating, calm, affirming
Weakness: Indecisive, indifferent, unable to express emotional, too soft on other people
Limitation: Seeing the need to be more assertive, holding others accountable

[E]xperience

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

I was raised believing Christianity as fact, so I don’t ever remember not being a Christian. But it became real to me in college when I went on a retreat with the Navigators. That’s when I realized that, if I truly believe this, then it should change my life.

Ministry Experience (Where I have served in the past, if applicable, including ChurchName, City/State, Position, Years Involved):

At BBC: AWANAs (9 yrs), teach Singles class (3 yrs?), Finance Team (3 yrs), quilting ministry (4-5 yrs), two mission trips (Guatemala)

Previous churches – helped in singles ministry, AWANAs, choir, mission trips

List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:

Navigators in college – really jump-started my walk with Jesus.

Quitting my first job at a law firm – seemed bad at the time, but set me on a whole new path that led me to where I am today (AG’s Office in Austin)

Doing a mock trial tournament in high school – never had an interest in the law until then.

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

Hating (and quitting) my first job at a law firm

Terribly shy and great trouble making friends. (I’ve come a long way since then.)

Getting made fun of as a kid.

Wrapping It Up

The Challenge: Based upon your S.H.A.P.E. Assessment above (the way God wired you), If you knew you couldn’t fail … and ‘lack of money, or time’ was not an obstacle… list your Top 3 Things you would ‘Focus’ your Life on, next to #1 Loving God & #2 Loving Your Neighbor (these would be your ‘3 God-Sized Dreams’ for your life)?

1. My Relationship with GOD

2. My Relationship with Others

  • Putting Your Spouse First
  • Your Kids Second
  • Everyone Else After those

3. Find a regular place/time to serve

4. To prepare better for teaching my class on Sunday

5. Speak to a group or at an event
