S.H.A.P.E. Assessment Results

Thank you Belvon Cowling for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. #1 Gift, Evangelism (78%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I love the Lord. I know what he has done for me and what he has brought me through. I know what I have been taught thru the teachings of my ancestors growing up and what I have applied in and throughout my life.

#2 Gift, Exhortation/Encouragement (75%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I can be encouraging to others however, my excitement is limited; I get excited but I am not loud and boisterous.

#3 Gift, Giving (75%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
God created me to give him all the glory and praise. But he also gave me the spirit to serve. I have been told by so many people and for so long that I have a heart of gold and a very giving heart. Well, nuff said. I have a giving spirit.

[H]eart

Three things I love to do that bring joy and fulfillment in my life:

1. 1. Showing and giving my wife (especially my wife) and family love and encouragement constantly.

2. 2. Encouraging and showing love to the elderly and encouraging and showing love to children and toddlers (6 years and younger).

3. 3. Singing Karaoke in public and cooking for my family
However, this is all superseded by the fact that I have to show the Love of God to others that I have in my heart.

Who I love to work with most, and the age or type of people:

Encouraging and showing love to the elderly and encouraging and showing love to children and toddlers (6 years and younger).

Church issues, ministries, or possible needs that excite or concern me the most:

I have a concern when we have people (Christians) in position of authority or positions to render service (personal or public) to others, and appear or feel that they are above others, because of their positions.
The lack of interest in several organizations within the church, due to uninteresting leadership.

Your Primary was ‘The Otter’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Beaver’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God

Otter- Otters are very social creature. Otter personalities love people. They enjoys being popular and influencing and motivating others. Otter can sometimes be hurt when people do not like them. Otter personalities usually have lots of friends, but not deep relationships. They love to goof-off. (They are notorious for messy rooms.) Otters like to hurry and finish jobs. (Jobs are not often done well.) The otter personality is like Tigger in Winnie The Pooh.

Strength: People person, open, positive
Weakness: Talks too much, too permissive
Limitation: Remembering past commitments, follow through with discipline

Beaver- Organized. Beavers think that there is a right way to do everything and they want to do it exactly that way. Beaver personalities are very creative. They desire to solve everything. Desire to take their time and do it right. Beavers do not like sudden changes. They need reassurance.

Strength: High standards, order, respect
Weakness: Unrealistic expectations of self & others, too perfect.
Limitation: Seeing the optimistic side of things, expressing flexibility

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

Baptized at an early age. Served as a youth usher, junior deacon, youth choir.
My choir I grew up in is celebrating their 153 anniversary this year (2018). Father was the Sr. Usher President. My mom served in the Senior Choir and was the Nurses Unit President. My Grand Pa was the Deacon Board President and my Grand Ma was a Missionary, Deaconess and in the Nurses Unit.

Ministry Experience (Where I have served in the past, if applicable, including ChurchName, City/State, Position, Years Involved):

• Served as a youth usher, junior deacon, youth choir at Little Bethel Baptist Church, Suffolk, VA, also a boy scout thru the church.

• The Tabernacle, worked with the Kitchen Ministry

List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:

Re-connecting with Greg Hines at MJBC, which lead to me meeting and marrying my current wife.

Between 2009 and 2012, going thru the 15 or so life changing events, allowed me to grow stronger emotionally and mentally and spiritually.

The birth of my ONLY blood child, my son Miles, and the birth of my grand children.

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

Watching my first wife go thru cancer until the day she died in my arms.

The death of my mother-n-law while my first wife was dying of cancer.

The death of my first wife, Mother-n-law, brother, brother-n-law, two first cousins, buddy from my childhood, aunt, great aunt, ex girl friend, very good friend hospitalized for 11 months, lost of jobs (on after 26 years and one after 2 years) and a major Knee Replacement Surgery.
