S.H.A.P.E. Assessment Results

Thank you Ben Fulton for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. May God Bless You!

#1 Gift, Serving (93%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I enjoy serving others, I feel as though I am not only helping people but also helping show others the love of God in a practical way. Serving people is something God gives me great joy in.

#2 Gift, Giving (81%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I know that everything I have has been given to me by God. In multiple places in the Bible, it talks about being good Stewards with what He has given us, such as the parable of the talents in Matthew 25. I give joyously knowing that I am using what God has given me to further His kingdom.

#3 Gift, Mercy Showing (68%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I believe that Mercy Showing is imperative for Christians to have. If we, who have been given the ultimate mercy by God, cannot show mercy to others who need it what does that say about us? We are to imitate Christ and forgive others just as we were forgiven.

Three things I love to do that bring joy and fulfillment in my life:

1. I love giving. One of my love languages is giving. I enjoy seeing peoples reactions and feeling like I have made their day better. Whether it is by giving my time or service, or an actual gift, I feel fulfilled when I give to others.

2. Building or making things. God gives everyone certain talents in life and I believe one of mine is creating things. I love to make all kinds of things. I do woodworking, photography, videography, a bit of animation, audio editing, and writing are some of the ways I use the talents God has given me.

3. Another thing I really enjoy is reading/learning. I enjoy reading things I haven’t before or even reading things that I have read before and picked up things I may have missed.

Who I love to work with most, and the age or type of people:

I like working with people who know what they want and what they are doing so I can learn from them. Usually, that means they are older than me.

Church issues, ministries, or possible needs that excite or concern me the most:

I believe that youth ministry is very important. A lot of students who were raised Christian start to look at their own faith and decide if they really do believe it or if its just something their parents believe. Retention is just as important as getting them in the Church. I’ve seen many examples of students who are at a summer camp and get that “mountain top” experience and feel like their life has been changed but as soon as they come down they go back to the way things were before.

Your Primary was ‘The Retriever’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Beaver’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God

Golden Retriever- Good at making friends. Very loyal. Retriever personalities do not like big changes. They look for security. Can be very sensitive. Very caring. Has deep relationships, but usually only a couple of close friends. Wants to be loved by everyone. Looks for appreciation. Works best in a limited situation with a steady work pattern.

Strength: Accommodating, calm, affirming
Weakness: Indecisive, indifferent, unable to express emotional, too soft on other people
Limitation: Seeing the need to be more assertive, holding others accountable

Beaver- Organized. Beavers think that there is a right way to do everything and they want to do it exactly that way. Beaver personalities are very creative. They desire to solve everything. Desire to take their time and do it right. Beavers do not like sudden changes. They need reassurance.

Strength: High standards, order, respect
Weakness: Unrealistic expectations of self & others, too perfect.
Limitation: Seeing the optimistic side of things, expressing flexibility

[E]xperience

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

I was raised Christian and when I was old enough I made the decision to follow God and accepted Christ as my savior.

Ministry Experience (Where I have served in the past, if applicable, including ChurchName, City/State, Position, Years Involved):

A very long time ago I was an assistant to the 2nd grade Sunday school class at Stafford Crossing Community Church in Stafford VA. probably sometime int he Mid 2000s.

Shortly after that, I ran the lights for the Sermon and the youth group also at Stafford Crossing Community Church.

I have volunteered at many different church functions from washing cars in a poor neighborhood to helping set up and run a Christmas event for the poor.

List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:

My Parents have always been a great example of what imitating Christ looks like as well as how to be a good spouse and father.

My Friends growing up also had a big impact on who I am today. I don’t make friends easily because I am somewhat of an introvert, but once I do they are friends for life. My friends have taught me about life and how to interact with people as well as giving me a good support system.

My church was another huge positive experience that turned me into who I am. I learned there what it meant to truly follow God as well as how to use the gifts He has given to me to serve Him.

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

Growing up I was prone to stomach aches and I felt sick a lot. I hate the feeling of being sick more than any other kind of pain. But I am glad I went through that because every time it did It would bring me back to the feet of Jesus. I talked with Him more when I was sick than when everything was going well.

The second negative experience I had that shaped me was a breakup. My first and only break-up. I know most everybody goes through break-ups but I thought she was the one for me, but after a year of dating she broke it off. I was devastated at the time, but now I thank God it happened, I couldn’t see that God had someone better for me in mind and it helped me realize that God’s plan is always better than my plan.

The hardest thing I ever went through was during my second year at college. I was in a different major and I was really struggling. I couldn’t understand why everything was going wrong. It was a real emotional time for me. I was depressed most of the time and it felt like no matter what I did nothing went right. I was praying that God would show me what I was doing wrong but I wasn’t hearing anything. Eventually, It got so bad I went home for the weekend to clear my head. I got some great advice from my family and friends and finally opened my ears to what God was telling me. I wasn’t taking the path God wanted for me. So I changed majors and have been trying to follow where He sends me ever since.
