S.H.A.P.E. Assessment Results

Thank you Bennett Keyes for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. May God Bless You!

#1 Gift, Teaching (78%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I enjoy finding the true meaning of the word and applying it to our lives and have the patience to figure this out and continue to refine my understanding each time I return to it. I enjoy being able to share this knowledge with other people so that they can benefit from it

#2 Gift, Exhortation/Encouragement (75%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I feel for those who are struggling and want to support them and share their pain with them. I love to observe and share the strengths I see in people with them to encourage them in it and to bring them joy

#3 Gift, Serving (71%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I enjoy giving my time to benefit others, but it can be stressful to do it in up close and personal ways. I find there are many things others find to be too much effort or stressful or time consuming that I am happy to do for them

[H]eart

Three things I love to do that bring joy and fulfillment in my life:

1. I love to spend time with people on trips, particularly in the outdoors, because I feel people are forced to be real when they are out in new and sometimes hard situations, and because they are forced to spend an extended time with a group of people

2. I love to play soccer

3. I love to learn new things

Who I love to work with most, and the age or type of people:

It might just be people my age, but I really liked college where people had some maturity and experience, but were still very moldable and eager to find truth, and had yet to decide their life trajectory. I am also really liking young adults ministry as well because everyone has sort of started on a trajectory and has thought things through and can speak on why they believe what they do, but is still evaluating if their worldview is really best

Church issues, ministries, or possible needs that excite or concern me the most:

I am probably most passionate about mentoring and life groups, anything where I can spend quality time and invest my heart and life experience in people in a small group setting

Your Primary was ‘The Beaver’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Retriever’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God

Beaver- Organized. Beavers think that there is a right way to do everything and they want to do it exactly that way. Beaver personalities are very creative. They desire to solve everything. Desire to take their time and do it right. Beavers do not like sudden changes. They need reassurance.

Strength: High standards, order, respect
Weakness: Unrealistic expectations of self & others, too perfect.
Limitation: Seeing the optimistic side of things, expressing flexibility

Golden Retriever- Good at making friends. Very loyal. Retriever personalities do not like big changes. They look for security. Can be very sensitive. Very caring. Has deep relationships, but usually only a couple of close friends. Wants to be loved by everyone. Looks for appreciation. Works best in a limited situation with a steady work pattern.

Strength: Accommodating, calm, affirming
Weakness: Indecisive, indifferent, unable to express emotional, too soft on other people
Limitation: Seeing the need to be more assertive, holding others accountable

[E]xperience

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

I gave my life to Christ with real intention and understanding as a middle schooler through a confirmation class my church did

Ministry Experience (Where I have served in the past, if applicable, including ChurchName, City/State, Position, Years Involved):

I have regularly served on a worship team at my home church, growing up, in college ministry, and at Bethany

I have been a life group and Bible study leader in college

I have been a counselor in training at a Christian camp, although I never was a counselor

List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:

Summer missions in college

High school small group

Leadership development program at camp

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

Not having a strong Christian group I could rely on in the leadership development program, and learning a lot about my shortcomings through it, and feeling like I really missed an opportunity to develop a close Christian circle early on

Struggling through my first romantic experience in college with an unhealthy person and being painfully unaware of how misguided it was and that the best thing to do was remove myself from it

When my church had bad break ups with both my youth pastor, and then a head pastor, after he had only started at our church a couple years before
