#1 Gift, Exhortation/Encouragement (71%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I enjoy meeting with people who are feeling their is no hope, or who are hurting or downtrodden, and who are looking for some direction in their lives. I love to help them explore their feelings and find some positives in their lives. I like to be able to share my story with them to demonstrate what God can do, and to give them hope. I believe people can work out their own problems, by asking them the right questions they are able to get some clarity, and understanding of how they can change their situation for the better.

[H]eart

Three things I love to do that bring joy and fulfillment in my life:

1. Bring hope into people’s lives.

2. Help people find their way through troubling times.

3. Share what God has done in my life.

Who I love to work with most, and the age or type of people:

Adults who are open and willing to make positive changes, even if they are only small changes. People who need encouragement.

Church issues, ministries, or possible needs that excite or concern me the most:

Social groups for people who are lonely, or in need. I believe everyone needs to feel connected, and accepted. For example: single people, or over 60’s, etc. Everyone has something to give, and it makes us feel more worthwhile when we can give to others. Groups are great for getting to know people better too.

Your Primary was ‘The Retriever’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Otter’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God

Golden Retriever- Good at making friends. Very loyal. Retriever personalities do not like big changes. They look for security. Can be very sensitive. Very caring. Has deep relationships, but usually only a couple of close friends. Wants to be loved by everyone. Looks for appreciation. Works best in a limited situation with a steady work pattern.

Strength: Accommodating, calm, affirming
Weakness: Indecisive, indifferent, unable to express emotional, too soft on other people
Limitation: Seeing the need to be more assertive, holding others accountable

Otter- Otters are very social creature. Otter personalities love people. They enjoys being popular and influencing and motivating others. Otter can sometimes be hurt when people do not like them. Otter personalities usually have lots of friends, but not deep relationships. They love to goof-off. (They are notorious for messy rooms.) Otters like to hurry and finish jobs. (Jobs are not often done well.) The otter personality is like Tigger in Winnie The Pooh.

Strength: People person, open, positive
Weakness: Talks too much, too permissive
Limitation: Remembering past commitments, follow through with discipline

[E]xperience

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

I have always believed in God. I had an emptiness, and a lot of hurts and betrayal in my life, and I knew God was the only one who could help me, so i reached out and put my hope and trust in him. It was a process, not an instant conversion. God gave me a revelation of his love when I reached out to him.

Ministry Experience (Where I have served in the past, if applicable, including ChurchName, City/State, Position, Years Involved):

Ararat CRC – Sunday school, youth group leader, women’s ministries, worship leading, preaching, church oversight, praying for people, visiting the aged and the sick, and prayer counselling, for about 10 years altogether.
Portland AOG – preaching, worship leading, and leading bible study group. 2 years
Maryborough AOG. Leading worship, communion message, Sunday school 3 years.
cleaning., greeting people, and hospitality in these churches.

List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:

Being set free from hurts, and demonic possession and oppression .

Bible school, and leadership training through the CRC.

Renewing my mind through the word of God.

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

Working my way through the pain of Having been abused as a child, and also in adulthood, and having had 2 of my children also being abused has given me compassion and understanding of those who have gone through similar experiences.

The experience of marriage breakdown and divorce, has given me hindsight and a passion to encourage others to work through their marriage problems,

Having lost a grandchild, a close friend, a parent, and others has been heart breaking, but also an experience that has given me understanding and empathy for others.
