[E]xperience

Born a Christian and raised as a strong Christian. I used to speak to God night and day as a young child and everyone thought I was speaking to my imaginary friend. In my early adult years, my education and career took priority in my life, but God pulled me back every time, reminding me that without him I cannot fulfill my destiny, nor be happy.

My dad was a social worker in NY, and he rescued children in trouble. His passion in helping the hurting introduced me to wanting to help.

I am oldest female with 9 siblings and I was raised to set a good example. So I knew I had to follow the Bible to a T, so my siblings can do the same

My grandmothers prayed out loud every day to help us learn to surrender all to God and seek His wisdom in every situation.

My first year of college, my English teacher had me stand up and tell the class my name, where I was born, and how long I have lived in the US. I was the only student she highlighted. It was a verification that I would be treated differently because I did not look Anglo.

My first day in school, my brothers and I were followed home and beaten because we attended a predominantly black school but we didn’t look black. It was our introduction to racism.

When I had my daughter I got very ill and was unable to care for her, so I try to help those that need an extra hand.
