Thank you Bonnie Robertson for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. #1 Gift, Serving (75%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
In the past at BUMC i was church treasurer, member of the Administrative Board and helped in the church office. I taught Sunday School when my children were little. I would be interested in greeting, possibly helping in a classroom, but do not want to miss 10 a.m. service. I worked at a school as an administrative assistant so would be able to help in some office duties.

#2 Gift, Giving (71%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I try to monetarily give to the church on a regular basis. I appreciate the good works that result in regular congregation giving. As a past church treasurer, I helped create the church budget and was aware of the financial needs of the church as well as stewardship programs.

#3 Gift, Administration (65%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
Not sure where this leads me…..Taking this questionaire made me feel somewhat inadequate in my journey. I try to remind myself God will lead me where he wants me. I’ll take all the help I can get!!!

[H]eart

Three things I love to do that bring joy and fulfillment in my life:

1. Family is most important to me. The time I spend with my children and grandchildren is the joy of my life. I treasure them and realize my example has led them to lead good Christian lives as well.

2. Church services, hymn sings and devotional reading on my own fill me with renewed hope and promise.

3. Enjoying my “retirement” free time has been a blessing. Working my whole life since I was 14 years old, this non-working stage of my life has been a true joy.

Who I love to work with most, and the age or type of people:

I especially like “elderly” people (ha!) They are fascinating and I realize some have no one to relate to. And then on the other side, give me a baby to hold and nurture to and I am in my glory.

Church issues, ministries, or possible needs that excite or concern me the most:

Not sure how to answer this question. My past experiences have been in children’s ministry and church clerical help. Not exactly sure about this one…………

Your Primary was ‘The Retriever’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Beaver’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God

Golden Retriever- Good at making friends. Very loyal. Retriever personalities do not like big changes. They look for security. Can be very sensitive. Very caring. Has deep relationships, but usually only a couple of close friends. Wants to be loved by everyone. Looks for appreciation. Works best in a limited situation with a steady work pattern.

Strength: Accommodating, calm, affirming
Weakness: Indecisive, indifferent, unable to express emotional, too soft on other people
Limitation: Seeing the need to be more assertive, holding others accountable

Beaver- Organized. Beavers think that there is a right way to do everything and they want to do it exactly that way. Beaver personalities are very creative. They desire to solve everything. Desire to take their time and do it right. Beavers do not like sudden changes. They need reassurance.

Strength: High standards, order, respect
Weakness: Unrealistic expectations of self & others, too perfect.
Limitation: Seeing the optimistic side of things, expressing flexibility

[E]xperience

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

I have attended church since infancy. I have always believed in Jesus as my Savior. No bright lights, jarring experience. I know there is a God when I look out my window and contemplate the blessings in my life and in the ways I am constantly reminded to serve God in the ways he leads me.

Ministry Experience (Where I have served in the past, if applicable, including ChurchName, City/State, Position, Years Involved):

Church treasurer, Sunday School Teacher, Office help

Barryville United Methodist Church, PO Box 35, Barryville, NY 12719
Thirty years????

List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:

The birth of my three children

Retirement – being able to enjoy my life without working full time

Being friends with two of my best buddies in NY – true Christian women who inspire me on my spiritual journey.,

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

The recent death of my brother….my best friend and hero…………

The death of my husband at a young age and having to raise our children alone. Realizing how important strong foundations for our family were, and how important faith was in healing broken hearts.

PS – This has been a real soul searching questionaire. At times difficult to answer!!!
