S.H.A.P.E. Assessment Results
Thank you Bruce Hanlon for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. May God Bless You!

Your Primary was ‘The Lion’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Beaver’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God
Lion- This personality likes to lead. The lion is good at making decisions and is very goal-oriented. They enjoy challenges, difficult assignments, and opportunity for advancement. Because lions are thinking of the goal, they can step on people to reach it. Lions can be very aggressive and competitive. Lions must learn not to be too bossy or to take charge in other’s affairs.
Strength: Goal-oriented, strong, direct
Weakness: Argumentative, too dictatorial
Limitation: Doesn’t understand that directness can hurt others, hard time expressing grace
Beaver- Organized. Beavers think that there is a right way to do everything and they want to do it exactly that way. Beaver personalities are very creative. They desire to solve everything. Desire to take their time and do it right. Beavers do not like sudden changes. They need reassurance.
Strength: High standards, order, respect
Weakness: Unrealistic expectations of self & others, too perfect.
Limitation: Seeing the optimistic side of things, expressing flexibility
[E]xperience
I was born into a Christian family where church and Bible reading were very prevalent. I trusted Christ at the age of 7 after a time of prayer with my father. Church, youth group, Bible camp, and a family where Christ was center were the hallmarks of my upbringing. By the age of 18 I came to really own my faith as distinct from my parents. Although far from “perfected” – God’s sovereign presence has always been a constant in my life.
Pastor/School Director – Crossroads Community Church, Framingham, Massachusetts (2000 – 2011)
Missionary/School Director – African Bible College, Malawi, Africa (2011 – 2013)
Pastor/Christian School Volunteer – Forestdale Church – Sandwich, MA / Trinity Christian Academy – Hyannis, MA (2015 – present)
Christian camp staff (Camp Berea – Hebron, NH) 1992 – 1996.
Discipleship relationship with several godly mentors, especially during my years in seminary.
Growing to love education through college and graduate school
Having a surface-level, somewhat cold relationship with my father
Watching the slow and steady decline of the relevance of the church in American culture through the last couple of decades, resulting in greater compassion for pastors.
The divide between churches and Christian schools as “Church” and “para-Church” ministries instead of working hand-in-hand.
