[E]xperience

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

When I was around seven years old, my Sunday School teacher had us ask Jesus into our hearts. I repeated her words expecting something to happen. After church, I told her that I didn’t feel like I did it right, so we prayed again. Nothing happened, but I think I truly wanted to ask Christ into my heart. After my grandpa died when I was eighteen I really started to ponder the nature of reality. I studied geology in college, and though they taught that everything happened without God, I never encountered anything that contradicted the idea of a creator. Later, I read Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis and the God Delusion by Richard Dawkins to get both perspectives. The atheist viewpoint offered little scientific evidence against God, and Mere Christianity seemed far more reasoned and intelligent. I read the bible, and it corroborated my viewpoints, so I felt comfortable saying I was a Christian and a follower of Christ.

I attended space academy with my best friend in junior high.

I was a Rotary Club summer foreign exchange student to the United Kingdom in high school.

Prospecting for gold with my dad and dog in the desert.

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

Verbal abuse by a parent.

Sitting alone at lunch and on the playground in elementary school.

Being smaller than other people my age – resulting in bigger guys picking fights with me, and not being able to keep up in sports.
