S.H.A.P.E. Assessment Results
Thank you Brenda Black for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. May God Bless You!

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
It’s what I feel most fulfilled doing. I enjoy reading and studying, and looking for ways to share what I learn.
This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
This is a surprise. Never really thought of this as a personal strength. I love to see a vision become reality. And I love to set the goals and delegate the tasks that bring the vision to fruition.
This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
Maybe this has to do with my leaning towards inclusiveness, and my tendency to invite people to come and see. “Just try it”

Your Primary was ‘The Lion’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Retriever’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God
Lion- This personality likes to lead. The lion is good at making decisions and is very goal-oriented. They enjoy challenges, difficult assignments, and opportunity for advancement. Because lions are thinking of the goal, they can step on people to reach it. Lions can be very aggressive and competitive. Lions must learn not to be too bossy or to take charge in other’s affairs.
Strength: Goal-oriented, strong, direct
Weakness: Argumentative, too dictatorial
Limitation: Doesn’t understand that directness can hurt others, hard time expressing grace
Golden Retriever- Good at making friends. Very loyal. Retriever personalities do not like big changes. They look for security. Can be very sensitive. Very caring. Has deep relationships, but usually only a couple of close friends. Wants to be loved by everyone. Looks for appreciation. Works best in a limited situation with a steady work pattern.
Strength: Accommodating, calm, affirming
Weakness: Indecisive, indifferent, unable to express emotional, too soft on other people
Limitation: Seeing the need to be more assertive, holding others accountable
[E]xperience
I became a committed Christian when I asked God to rescue me from a living hell and He did.
VBS leader, San Diego 1983-1989
Youth leader, PASDAC, 1999-2003
Women’s ministry leader, 2007- 2014
Elder 2005–
My experiences as a Navy wife , especially becoming friends with people from other faith walks, broadened my perspective on what it means to be a Christian.
Having to hobnob with the rich and famous— though often taking me out of my comfort zone—has given me an insight and opportunity to love that I never even imagined.
God has opened doors for me to teach, giving me jobs at colleges and universities, despite my commitment to uprooting my family to move with my husband every 3-5 years for 27 years.
Dropping out of a doctoral program ABD, all but dissertation. I never thought the mere physical, could be an obstacle. This experience gave me a greater compassion for the physically challenged.
Learning that I had a gay son shook my world, but it opened a whole new way of seeing and gave me compassion for people with same-sex attractions.
Being in a marriage for 45 years with someone almost as strong-willed as I am has been challenging. However, I can reach out to those who are hurting— I know for sure it’s not easy— but it’s doable.
