S.H.A.P.E. Assessment Results
Thank you Brent A. Johnson for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. May God Bless You!

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
Giving is one of the three services: giving of my time, talents, and tithing. We have been blessed with reliable employment. We have followed the examples of good mentors setting aside our tithe, our retirement, and living within our means.

Prophecy is fascinating. Prophecy, when recognized tells us what is to come. We’d be a fool to ignore what is to come.

Where would any of us be without the patience and investment of other teachers. We are all truly indebted to our teachers & have the obligation to pay it forward in whatever area we are experienced. Grab a mentee & teach!
[H]eart
1. I love to interact with others. Whether grabbing a cup of coffee, engaging in an activity: hiking, swimming, cycling, camping, even working around the house or church; fellowship is a great avenue to share, teach, learn, get fit, or enjoy some good vittles & libation.
2. I love to serve. Since childhood, both my parents modelled a hard-working lifestyle. Working hard is a double blessing when helping others since it’s better to give than receive, they are blessed, and I’m blessed for being a blessing.
3. I love to come alongside others & share advice that has blessed me: financial, hard-working, benefits of serving, and especially finding an occupation that’s rewarding. If you love what you do, it won’t feel like work.
I’m more prone to be drawn to those who are my parent’s age or those younger who would be more of a sibling. I enjoy working with children as well, but I’m not as experienced with this age-group. I really enjoyed coaching basketball to late-elementary & junior high, but I did that because there were no others willing to step-up.
I value leadership by example. We all have an obligation to help any way we can: time, talents, & treasures; no matter how little – give whatever time you’re able, serve where you’re most talented (SHAPE Test), and give knowing everything belongs to God, yet He only asks for a small tithe.

Your Primary was ‘The Lion’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Otter’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God
Lion- This personality likes to lead. The lion is good at making decisions and is very goal-oriented. They enjoy challenges, difficult assignments, and opportunity for advancement. Because lions are thinking of the goal, they can step on people to reach it. Lions can be very aggressive and competitive. Lions must learn not to be too bossy or to take charge in other’s affairs.
Strength: Goal-oriented, strong, direct
Weakness: Argumentative, too dictatorial
Limitation: Doesn’t understand that directness can hurt others, hard time expressing grace
Otter- Otters are very social creature. Otter personalities love people. They enjoys being popular and influencing and motivating others. Otter can sometimes be hurt when people do not like them. Otter personalities usually have lots of friends, but not deep relationships. They love to goof-off. (They are notorious for messy rooms.) Otters like to hurry and finish jobs. (Jobs are not often done well.) The otter personality is like Tigger in Winnie The Pooh.
Strength: People person, open, positive
Weakness: Talks too much, too permissive
Limitation: Remembering past commitments, follow through with discipline
[E]xperience
Grew-up with few extended family members knowing God personally, but lived a legalistic life. Performance-based lifestyle through HS, college, and starting my career as a Marine aviator. Gave my life to Christ sitting next to my wife in church when the pastor gave an alter call challenging anyone to step forward and admit that their life can’t be all it can be without declaring Christ as your Lord & Savior. Both my wife and I gave our life to the LORD and we were immediately discipled. We’ve been active members in the church ever since going on 20 years.
Deacon, Valley Bible Church, San Marcos, CA since 2008-2018
Drums / percussion, Valley Bible Church, San Marcos CA since 2008
Elder, Valley Bible Church, Vista CA since 2018
Volunteering at Valley Christian School 2012 – present. Humbling. Taught that I’m not always in control, don’t always have the answers, that there’s value in getting profession consultation / help, and seeking others to share the burden
Speaking-up when staff members under the microscope of being fired, but seeking and advising leadership that the method the issue was handled was not fair / right.
Working alongside humble leaders that served week after week without any recognition performing tasks critical for the church and school. Great examples.
Be quick to listen & slow to speak. When confronting leadership, I did not do so in a professional or Christ-like matter, but instead in a holier-than-thou attitude. Embarrassing.
Volunteered too often in too many areas at church and school to the detriment of my marriage & family. Must be an order.
Called-out others in other ministries that were not serving in a manner that benefitted the ministry, let alone the worship service. Although my points were valid, my communication was harsh and too direct.
