I don’t get this one? All the questions I put as often related to this one were about serving the underserved, which I love doing, but more so through fixing systems than through working with individuals.

I think this one is mainly on there because of my experiences. I’ve always been curious about learning more about scripture and then am happy to share that, but I don’t seek out teaching opportunities.

I often ask “How would our community be different if our church wasn’t here? In what ways would it look the same if we weren’t here?” Maybe those are the areas we need to put more effort into.

Because lions are thinking of the goal, they can step on people to reach it. Lions can be very aggressive and competitive. Lions must learn not to be too bossy or to take charge in other’s affairs.

Beaver- Organized. Beavers think that there is a right way to do everything and they want to do it exactly that way. Beaver personalities are very creative. They desire to solve everything. Desire to take their time and do it right. Beavers do not like sudden changes. They need reassurance.

[E]xperience

Grew up in church, accepted Christ at camp in junior high. Faith was very legalistic until college when I questioned everything, started to resent some of the things I’d been taught in church. Struggled with church (particularly FBC Temple), left the church for a year and sort of attended a Methodist church a little. Came back to Baptist faith but with a different perspective.

Spent a summer working at orphanages in the Philippines

Started working at Helping Hands and increased my proximity to the hurting and vulnerable in our community

My relationship with Evan and now being a mom impacts how I feel about things, how I spend my time, etc probably more than any other thing currently (outside Christ)

Grew up in a conservative, fundamentalist church. Made me not assume the best in churches and to not just accept how churches are and what they teach without some discernment

Relationship with my parents is not great. We’re not very close and don’t talk about things that matter.

Always seem to work for less-than-competent people in my jobs. Has taught me to be patient and learn from others but has also taught me better how to discern when to stay and when it’s time to go.
