S.H.A.P.E. Assessment Results

Thank you Daniel Looi for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. May God Bless You!

[H]eart

Three things I love to do that bring joy and fulfillment in my life:

1. Relating to people in both Christian and other settings. For fun/laughter and enjoyment of each others’ company. And also for more serious chats/learning and sharing of concerns.

2. Looking out for God’s creation in big things and small. Like gazing at the heavens on clear nights in awe of God. Or reading the Bible, a Christian book or listening to a sermon.

3. Praying in the Spirit for people whom God has brought across my path, from family and friends, to acquaintances and strangers. Also for the world’s nations. And churches, especially those I’ve been in.

Who I love to work with most, and the age or type of people:

Young adults looking for answers (or if not answers, the right directions to them). Senior folks wanting company or a listening ear.

Church issues, ministries, or possible needs that excite or concern me the most:

Strength and anointing of church leadership. Strategies for pastoral care of the flock. Sound and systematic teaching of biblical foundations and deeper truths. Seeking out and caring for both the enquirers and those struggling in the faith.

Your Primary was ‘The Retriever’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Beaver’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God

Golden Retriever- Good at making friends. Very loyal. Retriever personalities do not like big changes. They look for security. Can be very sensitive. Very caring. Has deep relationships, but usually only a couple of close friends. Wants to be loved by everyone. Looks for appreciation. Works best in a limited situation with a steady work pattern.

Strength: Accommodating, calm, affirming
Weakness: Indecisive, indifferent, unable to express emotional, too soft on other people
Limitation: Seeing the need to be more assertive, holding others accountable

Beaver- Organized. Beavers think that there is a right way to do everything and they want to do it exactly that way. Beaver personalities are very creative. They desire to solve everything. Desire to take their time and do it right. Beavers do not like sudden changes. They need reassurance.

Strength: High standards, order, respect
Weakness: Unrealistic expectations of self & others, too perfect.
Limitation: Seeing the optimistic side of things, expressing flexibility

[E]xperience

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

I was born into a Christian family but can’t remember or pinpoint when I became a believer. I had many questions and doubts and sought a long time for answers. One day I came to realise that I had to either take a step of faith, or I will never know if He is for real and what it really means to believe in God.

Ministry Experience (Where I have served in the past, if applicable, including ChurchName, City/State, Position, Years Involved):

ASPC. Singapore. Cell group leader. Two different groups for one year each.

List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:

Having my children willingly express their love and care for me throughout my recent illness in practical and heart-warming ways.

Being able to move from Singapore to Australia as a call and act of faith.

God richly blessing me with funding from an incredible selling price of my home when I most needed it.

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

God preserving my health and strength in spite of several illnesses: A gall bladder op in Oct 2009. A minor stroke (TIA) in Jul 2017. A congestive heart failure (AF/CCF) in Sep 2017. A relapse in Oct 2017.

The death of my beloved wife in 2007 after 15 months of cancer treatment. During this time, our love for each other grew very much deeper.

My leaving church at 21 years. God kept me seeking Him even more so when I was out of church. It has been a long journey that’s still on-going.

  • Your Kids Second
  • Everyone Else After those

3. Lead and grow with a group of disciple-makers.

4. Volunteer help in the community.

5. Deepen my prayer life.
