S.H.A.P.E. Assessment Results
Thank you Charles E. Stuart for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. May God Bless You!

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I have a heart for the unbeliever, the wanderer, chained to sin whom Christ can set free by repentance and faith.
This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
Mercy gives hope for change. Mercy is the rope to pull one up to the next level of development. Mercy changes the mercy giver and the mercy receiver. Mercy is compassion in action. Mercy introduces one to the God of Mercy.
This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
Because I did not get very much encouragement in my house growing up, I am aware of its need. Both gentle exhortation and sincere encouragement inspires achievement.
[H]eart
1. My present assignment deals with older people mostly. I get joy in seeing the mercy of God in healing body and spirit in order to continue to use their gifts for Christ.
2. I find my greatest joy in seeing and older persons finally settling spiritual issues, for time is surely running out.
3. I find great joy in teaching spiritual truths one-on-one or in a group setting. At my age the pulpit may not be my best. But that does not keep me for wishing I was 20 years younger to attempt it!
Those 50 +.
The possibility this church grows to 1000 and starts a campus further out West.
Why not? As we plan for that growth excites me.

Your Primary was ‘The Lion’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Retriever’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God
Lion- This personality likes to lead. The lion is good at making decisions and is very goal-oriented. They enjoy challenges, difficult assignments, and opportunity for advancement. Because lions are thinking of the goal, they can step on people to reach it. Lions can be very aggressive and competitive. Lions must learn not to be too bossy or to take charge in other’s affairs.
Strength: Goal-oriented, strong, direct
Weakness: Argumentative, too dictatorial
Limitation: Doesn’t understand that directness can hurt others, hard time expressing grace
Golden Retriever- Good at making friends. Very loyal. Retriever personalities do not like big changes. They look for security. Can be very sensitive. Very caring. Has deep relationships, but usually only a couple of close friends. Wants to be loved by everyone. Looks for appreciation. Works best in a limited situation with a steady work pattern.
Strength: Accommodating, calm, affirming
Weakness: Indecisive, indifferent, unable to express emotional, too soft on other people
Limitation: Seeing the need to be more assertive, holding others accountable
[E]xperience
At 11 years of age, I was convicted that my attitude toward my stepfather was sin and that I needed a savior. I resisted that for awhile. But one Sunday morning I gave in and went forward to “give my heart to Jesus” who graciously forgave me. The next Sunday 6 of my buddies (step-relatives) did the same. We were baptized at the same event.
My First Pastorate: Fillmore, Oklahoma Country church taught me to go to the city.
My last two congregations were very divided: God saved one and lost one by me.
AS Administrator in an Native American setting I learned cross cultural sensitivity.
The people and pastor in Austin, Texas Grace Church of the Nazarene loved me and surrounded me with instruction and inspiration; jobs, tasks, positions, preaching opportunities.
When I went away to college at 18 years old, I held my professors in high esteem and authority. They made an impact on my thinking.
The congregations I pastored loved my family. They held my wife as an OK person and really loved my children. They did not make high demands of them nor did they criticize them.
One church voted me out by one vote. It did great damage to the church and to the parsonage family. The D.S. Hurn stood by me and gave very good advice both to me and to the church. So, I stayed in.
My step-father and I did not get along. But it made me more determined to be me and not be defined by others, except by the Lord of course.
I stepped into a church in Houston that was very divided and prayed like I have never prayed before, but the church did not last while I was there. I found a buyer and went through the legal stuff to sell. The next church was equally divided but I had learned a few things and God helped to save it. But I feel compassion for pastors in difficult assignments. ( I interviewed for a 3rd divided church in succession, but did not go. The D.S. said I was a “healer.” )
