I love to work with High School Kids. To watch them develop into adults and to help shape and disciple them.
Student ministry is what I get excited the most about. However, I have growing concerns that we are not doing enough to reach students. That we have started to focus only on discipling the students we already have and we are not concerned with doing things to reach the ones we have not yet reached.

Your Primary was ‘The Otter’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Lion’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God
Otter- Otters are very social creature. Otter personalities love people. They enjoys being popular and influencing and motivating others. Otter can sometimes be hurt when people do not like them. Otter personalities usually have lots of friends, but not deep relationships. They love to goof-off. (They are notorious for messy rooms.) Otters like to hurry and finish jobs. (Jobs are not often done well.) The otter personality is like Tigger in Winnie The Pooh.
Strength: People person, open, positive
Weakness: Talks too much, too permissive
Limitation: Remembering past commitments, follow through with discipline
Lion- This personality likes to lead. The lion is good at making decisions and is very goal-oriented. They enjoy challenges, difficult assignments, and opportunity for advancement. Because lions are thinking of the goal, they can step on people to reach it. Lions can be very aggressive and competitive. Lions must learn not to be too bossy or to take charge in other’s affairs.
Strength: Goal-oriented, strong, direct
Weakness: Argumentative, too dictatorial
Limitation: Doesn’t understand that directness can hurt others, hard time expressing grace
[E]xperience
I became a Christian at the age of 7. I grew up in church and I knew I was a sinner, I knew what Jesus had done and I believed (and still do) it with my whole heart so I could one day be with him in heaven.
I was the Associate Student Pastor for a year and a half at First Baptist Church of Orange Park. Responsibilities would have been more like an intern type position.
I am currently serving as a 10th grade guys small group leader for The Summit Church in Raleigh NC. I have been doing this for 1.5 years now.
I am also serving as an adult small group leader for The Summit Church in Raleigh NC and have been doing that for about 2 months.
Growing up in a faith based family. Having parents that loved the Lord and made sure I knew it and made sure I was in church and involved every week.
listening to Gods calling for my life. Though I don’t know all the details, I knew I was supposed to go to SouthEastern. I told my now wife this one month after we had just started dating. One year after we were married we packed up and moved to Raleigh. As a result of following God’s call I have an incredible job, church family, friends and I am continuing to grow as a christian, more than every before.
4 months after I got married, I was flown up for a job interview at Duke. I thought this was the job. To say I was confident was an understatement. I thought every sign possible was pointing me there. 1. My lease had just ended. 2. They were starting projects that I had just completed or was also in the middle of doing. 3. I crushed the interview. If I had to go back and do it all over again, I wouldn’t change a thing. However, I didn’t get the job. It was the most humbling experience of my life. To think I was not good enough. However, a year later, thanks to my wife, I built up the courage to apply for another job and I got it. In comparison, the job I did get is 100x better. To name a couple, I work for a company and manager that allow me flexibility so I can attend school. Also, I have had career advances that wouldn’t have been possible at Duke. This is one of the biggest ways I have ever seen God show me that he knows what he’s doing.
My wife and I have been struggling with infertility for 3 almost 4 years. This time last year we went through infertility treatment and she became pregnant. We prayed before walking in that day and I prayed every day for the continuing development of the baby. When we went in to hear the heartbeat of the baby, we heard nothing. Literally the most heartbreaking day of my life. I mean not only did we lose a child, I also had to watch my wife lose the hope that she had all while I was standing there helpless. I felt hopeless to, I mean did God even hear me? It was a struggle for both of us. My wife cried every day for a solid month. HOWEVER, although I never want to go through that again, we learned from a lot of study and pray that God is good. We were reminded that his timing is perfect. We were reminded that he loves us and that although we don’t understand it somehow is for his Glory. This experience has enabled us to help talk with people that are not just experiencing infertility but pain and loss as well.
