I give liberally to the Lord because I love Him and I understand that by giving, I am exercising my faith in Him that He will do what He says He will do by opening up the windows of Heaven and pouring out blessings that I don’t have room to receive.

I enjoy teaching, it comes so naturally and I have often been asked if I am a teacher by profession.

[H]eart

1. I love spending time with my family. I really enjoy laughing, talking and just enjoying each other’s company.

2. I enjoy fellowshipping with the Saints. There is so much wisdom, encouragement and accountability while enjoying fellowship. All of this motivates me to be a better Christian and human being.

3. I enjoy discovering new things about the Lord. I love how he comforts me when I am down whether it’s through another person, song, sign, etc. He sends reassurances when I need them and it brings so much joy!

I love working working with young people and the elderly.

I enjoy teaching Sunday School and I enjoy mission groups. Presently, I think what concerns me the most is bridging the generational gap between the seasoned saints and the young adults. The question is, how do we keep young adults engaged without making the seasoned saints, who want to hold on to tradition, from feeling like they are being tossed to the side.

[E]xperience

I became a Christian when I was twelve years old. It was during Sunday service and I felt compelled to go down the isle when Pastor E.K. Howell opened the doors of the church.

I grew up serving in St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church, Delmar, GA. I was a member there over 30 years. I was a Sunday Secretary most of my childhood, I sang in the Junior and Senior choirs, I was the Pastor’s Secretary, I directed VBS for several years as well as Christmas and Easter plays. I was President of the Young Women’s Mission group.

I attended Morning Star Baptist Church, Valdosta, GA. I was a member approximately 10 years. I taught a young adults Sunday School Class, along with my Husband served as Youth Director and VBS Director. I also taught a New Members orientation class.

I am currently a member of Evergreen Missionary Baptist Church where my Husband serves as Pastor. I teach the Youth Sunday School Class and I print various programs.

The biggest impact that stands out is my parents taking us to church every time the doors opened and teaching us about Christ and how to live a good life focused on helping others.

Becoming a parent had a huge impact on my life. Caring and nurturing a child is one of the most important jobs you can have. There are ups, downs, hills and valleys but it’s all well worth it.

Meeting and growing with my Husband has impacted my life tremendously. I have learned so much about myself in the process including how to love unconditionally and how to truly forgive.

Going through a divorce and financial hardship taught me a lot about life, how to forgive myself and heal from past mistakes.

Growing up, I had a strained relationship with my father. I was a very sensitive child and it felt like he didn’t know how to relate to me. Over the years, I have grown to understand that my Dad loves me dearly and I now speak his language.

The loss of my cousin who was murdered by her estranged boyfriend hit me really hard but it helped me better understand the dynamics of domestic violence and now I can help others who are suffering and need help.
