This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I believe that everyone has burdens that feel insurmountable at different times in their lives. My life experiences provide me the opportunity to guide and help those to see that there is a light at the end of the tunnel and God does have a plan in place and a reason for everything that you experience.

[E]xperience

I was born and raised a Christian. My entire life has been lived following Christ. I try my best to demonstrate my Christian beliefs everyday in my actions and working with my students.

The birth of my children. Being able to grow and learn together and guide them to become the amazing adults they are has been the best thing. It has given me a true purpose which has now carried over to my grandchildren.

Being part of a choir for 4 years that allowed us to sing God’s praises throughout the country. Seeing how God’s message reached people through song is so powerful. It was an experience that I still reflect back on.

The death of my Uncle was incredibly difficult. He was a strong man and very founded in his faith. When he decided to not continue his cancer treatment it was difficult. His brother, my dad, was not able to travel to see him in his last days so I spent many afternoons with my uncle just having normal conversations and allowing my dad to talk with him via computer. I was there with him when he passed and knowing that he is in heaven and he had the opportunity to talk with his brother during his last days was powerful. Their hope-filled conversations about being with Jesus and having no fear of dying was something to listen to.

When my husband committed suicide the compassion and care and concern of my pastor and how he counseled and guided my through that terrible ordeal really helped strengthen my and my children’s faith. We used that experience to help others in their struggles with those types of thoughts to seek out spiritual guidance and also to speak in depth about our struggle.

The birth of my daughter was not under the best circumstances and that caused a major rift with my father. For several years our relationship was strained out of hurt and anger. His love for his grand daughter however blossomed. We did work through our anger and hurt and as a result our relationship is stronger than ever. His grand daughter is one of the most important people in his life now.
