S.H.A.P.E. Assessment Results

Thank you Ann Cass for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. May God Bless You!

#1 Gift, Evangelism (100%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
Because I believe the need is great and the time is now for people to know the Lord; my membership and leadership in local, state, and international positions with The Gideons International has equipped me to witness using God’s Word and made me more aware of opportunities for divine appointments.

#2 Gift, Teaching (100%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
Because I enjoy learning and helping people learn, teaching is a way of life for me. My passion and happy place is teaching children. At Moon’s Grove, for several years, I’ve taught children whose parents I taught as children. I’ve been teaching kindergarten through 3rd grade since 1976, only taking one year off to a student in John’s adult class, sitting beside my Daddy. One of my greatest and longest SS blessings was having a young lady with Downs Syndrome remain in my class as a helper long after she passed the age I teach because we loved each other and she was happy to stay with me. Every new group of children was taught to call her “Miss Kathy” and she took active helping roles, always studying lessons, bringing her Bible Story Book to share pictures related to that day’s lesson, and helping me sort papers at the table. She had her own chair and special seat at the end of the table. The year I stepped away from my “happy corner upstairs” was when Kathy wasn’t able to come to church because of her cancer battle; it was too painful to look at her empty chair, and Daddy sure enjoyed me sitting beside him in class so I’m glad I could have that joy during that time.

#3 Gift, Pastoring/Shepherding (96%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
Because I have a compassionate heart and love people, it is just in my nature to serve and love people.

[H]eart

Three things I love to do that bring joy and fulfillment in my life:

1. Reading the Bible and praying with my prayer list and journal…knowing and making Jesus known with my Moon’s Grove family…keeping my feet planted in the center of God’s will and purpose for me.

2. Spending time with my husband, our children, and grandchildren…being at home…having them all around our table…taking trips together…spending time in the mountains or at the beach.

3. Fulfilling my role as an Auxiliary member, a privilege of membership that is mine because God called John to be a Gideon…and just as He called us together in marriage in 1968, He called us together in ministry in 1995. God has grown me as I’ve stepped outside my comfort zone to go and serve wherever He called.

Who I love to work with most, and the age or type of people:

~~I enjoy working with children….they are so like sponges and excited about learning…it’s pure joy to sing with them and encourage them to memorize Scripture and use their Bibles.
~~I also enjoy teaching ladies, and I really enjoy writing so it’s a blessing to teach the Ladies Fellowship, a group of ladies my age and older from our church and other churches, that meets monthly for brunch, Bible study, and prayer time. I have written these lessons and just trust the Lord to show me the topic each month; many times, my own devotional/study might inspire, or the words to a song I hear on the radio. And if that’s the case, I always read the lyrics to that song as part of the lesson. I write each month’s lesson in a journal and then can tuck that journal on the bookshelf. It’s amazing how one month’s topic often inspires a thought or word to meditate on and develop for the next month. These ladies are so dear to me and we have a good time since I like to engage them during the lessons. It always makes me happy when someone asks a question which helps me find my topic for the next month.
~~I enjoy older people, love visiting and taking “happy bags” to people who are shut ins, and have a group of widows who I enjoy encouraging in different ways.

Church issues, ministries, or possible needs that excite or concern me the most:

~~Sunday School, Bible School….helping children grow in their faith and enjoy coming to church….making sure they know that I’m their friend and love them for who they are, being sure they know that God loves them more.
~~Prayer ministry…spending more time praying than talking about the prayer list.

[A]bilities

My current vocation:

Retired from Madison County Board of Education~~with so much ink on the calendar that I wonder how I found time to work, but loving staying busy with activities that are my passion.

Other jobs I have experience in:

Mostly accounting, but very thankful our son is a CPA and takes care of filling all tax forms out for us now! Worked as an office manager, in a public and school library, even for a newspaper one summer, did substitute teaching for almost 3 years before applying for a full time job at Madison County High School. Spent almost 3 years in the library, then became school bookkeepe….enjoyed the blessing of being a stay-at-home mama until our youngest was in 3rd grade, then working at school was great because they rode to and from school with me.

Special talents/skills that I have:

Writing, even sometime rhyming words
Love to cook, especially bake

I have taught a class or seminar on:

Besides the teaching I’ve done at church, I’ve done lots of training for the Auxiliary of Gideons, and traveled to 10 different state associations in a 3 year assignment as an International Auxiliary Cabinet Representative to their state conventions; my job was to train and encourage the ladies on how to do what we’re called to do as Auxiliary members. The highlight was always the Auxiliary luncheon when I could give an inspirational message.

I feel my most valuable personal asset is:

My personality….being friendly and loving people.

Your Primary was ‘The Lion’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Otter’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God

Lion- This personality likes to lead. The lion is good at making decisions and is very goal-oriented. They enjoy challenges, difficult assignments, and opportunity for advancement. Because lions are thinking of the goal, they can step on people to reach it. Lions can be very aggressive and competitive. Lions must learn not to be too bossy or to take charge in other’s affairs.

Strength: Goal-oriented, strong, direct
Weakness: Argumentative, too dictatorial
Limitation: Doesn’t understand that directness can hurt others, hard time expressing grace

Otter- Otters are very social creature. Otter personalities love people. They enjoys being popular and influencing and motivating others. Otter can sometimes be hurt when people do not like them. Otter personalities usually have lots of friends, but not deep relationships. They love to goof-off. (They are notorious for messy rooms.) Otters like to hurry and finish jobs. (Jobs are not often done well.) The otter personality is like Tigger in Winnie The Pooh.

Strength: People person, open, positive
Weakness: Talks too much, too permissive
Limitation: Remembering past commitments, follow through with discipline

[E]xperience

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

I want to share my testimony and finish this survey, but for now, this is as much as I have time to complete. My pastor knows that I’m working on an assignment for the Gideons, so I’m using this space for now to say, I cannot revisit and complete this form until August….no doubt, I’m spending more time on the responses than was needed, but that’s part of how I am….so I’m signing off for now, Pastor Tracey, if you want more, it will have to be when the International Convention is history….it’s time for sleep now.
