#1 Gift, Evangelism (84%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I really love Jesus. He has changed my life, and I am both excited and mind-blown to finally understand why. My heart breaks for people that don’t know Jesus, because I lived a long time not knowing Him and I know the suffering and purposelessness that comes from not having a relationship with your Creator. I want others to know Him.

#2 Gift, Exhortation/Encouragement (75%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I love to encourage people and I feel that I am good at encouraging people. I want people to be happy and joyful, and if I can help someone feel that way, then that’s what I’ll do! It makes me feel good to make others feel worthy. Now that I know Jesus, I feel like that gift has become a way in which I worship God – making others feel known and loved and celebrated so that they can question why they feel that way and how they can feel that way – and it’s because Jesus died for them and they have the opportunity to know Him deeply and be saved.

#3 Gift, Mercy Showing (71%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I feel that it is so important to show people mercy. I actually don’t know that I am very good at this – but it certainly gives me joy when I do have the opportunity to set aside my pride and show mercy to anyone who has offended or hurt me. I think I have been able to show mercy because, in knowing Jesus, I have been introduced to the incredible depth of my own sin. I have been shown great mercy by Jesus and by other people in my life, so showing mercy to others is simply a reminder of and a response to the mercy my Lord has shown me.

Three things I love to do that bring joy and fulfillment in my life:

1. Adventures. I love new adventures both shared with others and experienced on my own. I always find myself looking for something new to see or do, in order to break up the monotony of the week. This may be a double-edged sword, in that I am rarely content in routine. However, I truly love the breadth of experiences the Lord has blessed us with, and I feel that I come to know God, people, and myself in a deeper way when removed from the context of the everyday routine.

2. Outside. I love being outside both by myself and with others. I feel that I experience God’s beauty and majesty and big-ness when I’m outside. Things like the stars and the ocean and the forest are humbling to me, and constant reminders that amidst such a massive world, my Creator desires to know me every inch of me completely.

3. Learning. I love learning new things. About nearly any subject. I love school and gaining knowledge and being effective at a new task. I love learning knew skills like skiing or a new song on guitar or a new manual PT technique. I mostly love learning new things about people and being able to love them by following up and showing that I care about their lives.

Who I love to work with most, and the age or type of people:

I have always liked to work with people older than me. So I guess as I get older, the population I enjoy working with will also get older. I think there is a lot of knowledge and wisdom to be gained from spending time with people that have comparably more years and experiences under their belts. It is also very humbling to work with people who are generally better than you at whatever you do. I typically learn best by observation and emulation – so I enjoy spending time with people that I feel I can learn from.

Church issues, ministries, or possible needs that excite or concern me the most:

Apathy. I feel that there is a lot of passive worship in the church, and I guess there always has been. But that was how I was raised to worship, just going through the motions, and as a result I never developed a saving relationship with Jesus. This is a really big problem- that there are so many that claim to be Christians, and so few that actually know Christ.

Your Primary was ‘The Otter’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Lion’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God

Otter- Otters are very social creature. Otter personalities love people. They enjoys being popular and influencing and motivating others. Otter can sometimes be hurt when people do not like them. Otter personalities usually have lots of friends, but not deep relationships. They love to goof-off. (They are notorious for messy rooms.) Otters like to hurry and finish jobs. (Jobs are not often done well.) The otter personality is like Tigger in Winnie The Pooh.

Strength: People person, open, positive
Weakness: Talks too much, too permissive
Limitation: Remembering past commitments, follow through with discipline

Lion- This personality likes to lead. The lion is good at making decisions and is very goal-oriented. They enjoy challenges, difficult assignments, and opportunity for advancement. Because lions are thinking of the goal, they can step on people to reach it. Lions can be very aggressive and competitive. Lions must learn not to be too bossy or to take charge in other’s affairs.

Strength: Goal-oriented, strong, direct
Weakness: Argumentative, too dictatorial
Limitation: Doesn’t understand that directness can hurt others, hard time expressing grace

[E]xperience

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

I grew up identifying as a Christian and trying to follow all the rules- not really understanding why I needed to. I generally believed that there was a God, but when my “moral compass” was tested in college, it failed because it had no base. So I spent most of college fluctuating between feeling guilty/ashamed and justifying my actions as being less bad than my friends. I was in a guilty/ashamed phase when I graduated, knowing that I needed to be removed from the environment that I was in in order to “pursue” a relationship with God. I spent a few months trying to change things and earn the right to be loved by God – and before long the Lord showed me that He had always been there, His love had always been offered to me, regardless of what I had done. I heard the Gospel for the first time, got to know Jesus, and He has changed much of what I desire for my future and for my life. He took away a lot of the temptations I had, introduced me to the depth of my sin, and in response the even-greater depth of His grace.
