S.H.A.P.E. Assessment Results

Thank you Charles Brown for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. [H]eart

Three things I love to do that bring joy and fulfillment in my life:

1. My Family. Loving my wife and children

2. Loving people. Developing and maintaining relationships

3. Music (writing/composing/performing)

Who I love to work with most, and the age or type of people:

I generally work well with everyone, as long as humility is present. If we all agree that we can learn from each other then it allows a safer space to breed new ideas and attack challenges as a true TEAM.

I have a heart for young people, particularly HS-young adults

Church issues, ministries, or possible needs that excite or concern me the most:

Youth, particularly equipping them to wisely navigate a Christian life in a world in which Christ is increasingly hated. Helping people to understand their identity in Christ and Kingdom principles so that decisions would be made based on these truths rather than rules and to-do lists.

Your Primary was ‘The Otter’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Retriever’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God

Otter- Otters are very social creature. Otter personalities love people. They enjoys being popular and influencing and motivating others. Otter can sometimes be hurt when people do not like them. Otter personalities usually have lots of friends, but not deep relationships. They love to goof-off. (They are notorious for messy rooms.) Otters like to hurry and finish jobs. (Jobs are not often done well.) The otter personality is like Tigger in Winnie The Pooh.

Strength: People person, open, positive
Weakness: Talks too much, too permissive
Limitation: Remembering past commitments, follow through with discipline

Golden Retriever- Good at making friends. Very loyal. Retriever personalities do not like big changes. They look for security. Can be very sensitive. Very caring. Has deep relationships, but usually only a couple of close friends. Wants to be loved by everyone. Looks for appreciation. Works best in a limited situation with a steady work pattern.

Strength: Accommodating, calm, affirming
Weakness: Indecisive, indifferent, unable to express emotional, too soft on other people
Limitation: Seeing the need to be more assertive, holding others accountable

[E]xperience

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

I grew up in/around church and lived a life of compromise, trying to please people in order to fit in. Long story short, this failed and lead me to the verge of a suicide attempt where God met me in the form of 2 songs, both by secular artists. Then i felt him say “you’ve tried to live for people all your life and look where it’s brought you. I’ve been here all along. when will you live for ME?” It’s been me and God ever since.

List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:

Performing music and/or poetry and seeing the response. My music is always a reflection of my beliefs, and I often get positive responses from people who don’t share the same faith. They are encouraged and even have been open to exploring my beliefs more (they find it a compelling presentation that’s actually good).

Being able to develop relationships with various people of influence in a myriad of circles and knowing that I am able to be influential to them. I don’t take it lightly that they trust me enough to allow me into their lives, and I’ve been blessed by their friendship.

My marriage and parenthood have supplied a wealth of information and perspective of the love of God as a father, and the love of Christ as a groom. I’ve grown tremendously in my understanding of God’s patience and intentions of nothing but my well-being because i’m in a position to have the same desire for my children. I’ve come to better understand Christ’s sacrifices for me because of having to learn how to sacrifice for my bride. These have humbled me greatly.

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

The lack of my father growing up was hard, but God was faithful to provide substitutes in the form of pastors, mentors and coaches. I have a heart for people who either lacked a father or had horrible relationships with theirs because i know how this can affect their view of God as a Father.

Seeing people shunned by churches due to a struggle or moment of sin. I believe God loves them, and that they are the people living in the Margins that Christ was often seen ministering to. They matter to him, so they matter to me. I’ve been known to reach out to the ministry leaders i know who were pushing people away, because I will always stand on the side of truth in the SPIRIT of God’s word, not legalistically.

My best friend didn’t think he had the Holy Spirit because he was told that speaking in tongues was the evidence and only manifestation. We walked through the fruit of the spirit together and were able to conclude that it wasn’t the case, he was operating spiritually in other aspects (peace, patience, etc) and that we shouldn’t quit praying for a gift, but never covet. Learning to be content in what God entrusted us with.

Wrapping It Up

The Challenge: Based upon your S.H.A.P.E. Assessment above (the way God wired you), If you knew you couldn’t fail … and ‘lack of money, or time’ was not an obstacle… list your Top 3 Things you would ‘Focus’ your Life on, next to #1 Loving God & #2 Loving Your Neighbor (these would be your ‘3 God-Sized Dreams’ for your life)?

1. My Relationship with GOD

2. My Relationship with Others

  • Putting Your Spouse First
  • Your Kids Second
  • Everyone Else After those

3. To make music (produce, write) for myself and others in such a way that it illustrates the gospel and kingdom principles in a practical and applicable way that is compelling

4. To develop and maintain meaningful relationships with artists/entertainers and people of influence in order to be spiritually influential to them, offering guidance and loving assistance and support (entertainment chaplain)

5. To write books that would encourage and influence believers and non-believers to exhibit kingdom principles in life, particularly wisdom for young people, and encouragement for husbands
