S.H.A.P.E. Assessment Results

Thank you Christal Stroup for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. May God Bless You!

#1 Gift, Teaching (90%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
It is energizing to me to help a student understand a new concept. I experience great satisfaction when I see understanding dawn on a student’s face.

#2 Gift, Pastoring/Shepherding (81%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I am always concerned, not only about someone’s outward actions, but also the state of their heart that causes their actions. I know that true change begins in the heart and in relationship with God, so I want to help others gain a right relationship with God so that He can heal the broken areas of their lives. I have experienced much healing in my own life through other people pouring into me. In the same way, I want to be an instrument of the Lord’s healing for others. I believe God has called me to this.

#3 Gift, Giving (71%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
Everything we own is the Lord’s and has been given to us as a blessing. When He asks me to give something away, then of course I need to give it. It is not mine to keep. There have been times when we have been in financial need and the body of Christ has stepped in to help us. That has been such a blessing and I want to bless others the same way as well.

[H]eart

Three things I love to do that bring joy and fulfillment in my life:

1. I love to spend time with a good friend, engaging in heart-to-heart conversation.

2. I love to work outdoors in the garden.

3. I love to research new and better ways to do things, whether it is how to do a better manicure or how to improve a cooking skill.

Who I love to work with most, and the age or type of people:

I love to work with women the most. I can and have worked with children, but my passion is for women to grow in God and in who they are called to be. I really enjoy working with teenagers and up, especially if they are excited and hungry to grow in God. I also really enjoy spending time with elderly women, because I love to learn from them.

Church issues, ministries, or possible needs that excite or concern me the most:

Holiness in the church may be my biggest concern for the present day church. It seems that so many churches do not take the Word of God seriously when it comes to how to live. There is a lip-service to obeying the Word, but when it comes time to act, many will only obey when it works for them. I have heard a church leader say that obeying the Word is legalistic. I find that statement to be ridiculous. I believe that the correct definition of legalism is adding rules to the Word of God that aren’t there. Obeying the Word is just loving Jesus.

There is also a very narcissistic approach to church these days. I think we can especially see this in the worship/song service. It seems that people come to church to get something out of it, rather than coming to worship God because He is holy and worthy of our praise. The blessing we receive in church comes when we make Him the focus, not us. When I listen to so many of the “worship” songs that are being written today, I find myself wondering how this is worship because the focus of the song is me and what God is going to do for me. I think we need to sing songs that focus on who God is and what He has done for us, that focus on giving Him glory. He is not our genie in the bottle.

There are two ministries in the church that excite me. One is worship. I love to worship God with my whole heart. I love to sing songs that glorify Him. I love adoring Him through music.

The other ministry is women’s ministry, especially Titus 2 ministry. I have a great desire to help younger women to be better wives and mothers. I think the current feminist movement has taken root in the church and we need to stand against it. We need to take the Word of God seriously when it comes to our roles in the family, even if it is counter-cultural.

Your Primary was ‘The Otter’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Lion’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God

Otter- Otters are very social creature. Otter personalities love people. They enjoys being popular and influencing and motivating others. Otter can sometimes be hurt when people do not like them. Otter personalities usually have lots of friends, but not deep relationships. They love to goof-off. (They are notorious for messy rooms.) Otters like to hurry and finish jobs. (Jobs are not often done well.) The otter personality is like Tigger in Winnie The Pooh.

Strength: People person, open, positive
Weakness: Talks too much, too permissive
Limitation: Remembering past commitments, follow through with discipline

Lion- This personality likes to lead. The lion is good at making decisions and is very goal-oriented. They enjoy challenges, difficult assignments, and opportunity for advancement. Because lions are thinking of the goal, they can step on people to reach it. Lions can be very aggressive and competitive. Lions must learn not to be too bossy or to take charge in other’s affairs.

Strength: Goal-oriented, strong, direct
Weakness: Argumentative, too dictatorial
Limitation: Doesn’t understand that directness can hurt others, hard time expressing grace

List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:

I was raised by a godly mother and my parent’s were committed to their marriage even though it was rocky at times. They also homeschooled me, which changed the course of my life for the better.

I married my husband, who has been a very positive influence in my life.

I met two women who became very dear friends and mentors in my life and have helped me to grow.

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

I struggled for the first ten years of my marriage to be the wife I am called to be. This has helped me to have compassion on other women who are struggling.

I had a very hard time becoming a good mother, so I have a desire to help women who are struggling in this way.

I have dealt with a fear of man and have had a hard time standing up to bullies, so I have a desire to protect the vulnerable.
