S.H.A.P.E. Assessment Results

Thank you Cindy Mueller for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. May God Bless You!

#1 Gift, Exhortation/Encouragement (59%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I have been through some hard things. It is a privilege to be able to share, encourage in Christ with others going through something similar that will give them God’s hope & comfort & lead them to a closer walk with Jesus.

#2 Gift, Giving (59%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I lived most of my life on the receiving end of a tithe. I know what it’s like to feel you have a call, but have to “discover the finances” to make it possible. I have a heart for several missionary friends on the front lines of battle.

#3 Gift, Mercy Showing (56%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I’m not sure about this one. I generally don’t have a heart for “scary” criminals, but do (depending) for those fighting depression, addiction & that kind of thing.

[H]eart

Three things I love to do that bring joy and fulfillment in my life:

1. Spend time with God. Spend time with a quality Christian that I admire & respect & be mentored.

2. Being a nanny & being told I’m doing a great job.

3. Being open & vulnerable. Encouraging people (one on one or very small group) in hope, trust & waiting on the Lord.

Who I love to work with most, and the age or type of people:

Right now it is people navigating through divorce.
I also have a great love & gifting for kids of all ages. That might be in the future.

Church issues, ministries, or possible needs that excite or concern me the most:

Divorce Care, anything that Scarlet McGlasson is doing. ; )
I have a heart for missions & that could be a FUTURE behind the scenes kinda thing. I could see myself working with teenagers in the future. Right now, it’s all about further healing in my own divorce & helping others there.

Your Primary was ‘The Retriever’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Otter’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God

Golden Retriever- Good at making friends. Very loyal. Retriever personalities do not like big changes. They look for security. Can be very sensitive. Very caring. Has deep relationships, but usually only a couple of close friends. Wants to be loved by everyone. Looks for appreciation. Works best in a limited situation with a steady work pattern.

Strength: Accommodating, calm, affirming
Weakness: Indecisive, indifferent, unable to express emotional, too soft on other people
Limitation: Seeing the need to be more assertive, holding others accountable

Otter- Otters are very social creature. Otter personalities love people. They enjoys being popular and influencing and motivating others. Otter can sometimes be hurt when people do not like them. Otter personalities usually have lots of friends, but not deep relationships. They love to goof-off. (They are notorious for messy rooms.) Otters like to hurry and finish jobs. (Jobs are not often done well.) The otter personality is like Tigger in Winnie The Pooh.

Strength: People person, open, positive
Weakness: Talks too much, too permissive
Limitation: Remembering past commitments, follow through with discipline

[E]xperience

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

I understood a lot of Christian truths, but really thought God wanted us to be good & believe about Jesus on the cross. In 8th grade Bible class at a Christian school the teacher quoted from the Bible about loving the Lord your God with all your heart, soul & mind. I asked, “More than your mother?” I went home and prayed that God would show me how to do that since I couldn’t see or hear Him. He brought the right people into my life to show me how to have a deep relationship with Him.

Ministry Experience (Where I have served in the past, if applicable, including ChurchName, City/State, Position, Years Involved):

Calvary Bible Church Kalamazoo, MI
(home church during missionary assignment) 1990-1995

East Hills Community Church Oakland, CA
Pastor’s wife & Sunday school teacher to 2-6 year olds, occasionally helping with babies & older children 1999-2009

Youth For Christ Volunteer Nashville, TN & Kalamazoo, MI
Mostly offering support & friendship for staff 1983-86

List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:

Hearing Elisabeth Elliot speak at a Youth For Christ conference in 1985ish & reading a lot of her books after. Inspired by her disciple, faith, courage, lack of whining and complaining. ; )

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

Going as a career missionary wife & mother in ’93 & then evacuating Rwanda during civil war in ’94. Having a special needs child upon what was supposed to be a brief return to USA. Heart for those in ministry who feel small, like failures, broken. Heart for those missionaries who are able to do the work despite the spiritual warfare & financial difficulties. Heart for those who have had to move a lot, & never feel quite “home”.

Having severely disabled child with significant behavior problems. Heart for those struggling with just about any kind of aches regarding children.

Abandoned by former godly, loving pastor husband during my depression. Heart for those who are or have felt destroyed by the loss of a spouse. Heart with those desiring healing and health & battling mental illness & willing to do the work.

Wrapping It Up

The Challenge: Based upon your S.H.A.P.E. Assessment above (the way God wired you), If you knew you couldn’t fail … and ‘lack of money, or time’ was not an obstacle… list your Top 3 Things you would ‘Focus’ your Life on, next to #1 Loving God & #2 Loving Your Neighbor (these would be your ‘3 God-Sized Dreams’ for your life)?

1. My Relationship with GOD

2. My Relationship with Others

  • Putting Your Spouse First
  • Your Kids Second
  • Everyone Else After those

3. Have a nice house with a great room for hosting events for Singles who are pursuing God 1st, occasional ladies to live a couple months to get on their feet during divorce, host missionaries traveling through, host teen or college kids events.

4. Have a good volunteer staff for this hospitality house I just dreamed up.

5. Visit, help out, encourage missionary friends.
