#1 Gift, Exhortation/Encouragement (81%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
Personally, this is something that I need the most from the body. Given how important it is for my own well-being, I tend to see the need for this in others as well.

#2 Gift, Mercy Showing (81%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I am acutely aware of my own faults and failures, and the fact that the world has little, if any, mercy for these faults. Further, working in a legal capacity, I see on a daily basis how absent from the administration of justice any form of mercy is. Having experienced what real mercy is, in Jesus and from some of those who follow Him, I want others to feel the same freedom.

#3 Gift, Serving (68%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
This is simply my way of living out the gospel.

Your Primary was ‘The Retriever’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Beaver’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God

Golden Retriever- Good at making friends. Very loyal. Retriever personalities do not like big changes. They look for security. Can be very sensitive. Very caring. Has deep relationships, but usually only a couple of close friends. Wants to be loved by everyone. Looks for appreciation. Works best in a limited situation with a steady work pattern.

Strength: Accommodating, calm, affirming
Weakness: Indecisive, indifferent, unable to express emotional, too soft on other people
Limitation: Seeing the need to be more assertive, holding others accountable

Beaver- Organized. Beavers think that there is a right way to do everything and they want to do it exactly that way. Beaver personalities are very creative. They desire to solve everything. Desire to take their time and do it right. Beavers do not like sudden changes. They need reassurance.

Strength: High standards, order, respect
Weakness: Unrealistic expectations of self & others, too perfect.
Limitation: Seeing the optimistic side of things, expressing flexibility

[E]xperience

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

I grew up in a non-Christian home. We attended a Presbyterian church on Christmas and Easter. There was little discussion of religious topics or Jesus, but my brothers and I were expected to comport with a minimum level of morality. My parents divorced when I was 11 — my father was an alcoholic, and my mother was emotionally distant. Loneliness was the driving them of my life until mid-way through high school when I became involved in a local youth group, where I came to know Christ.

It wasn’t until many years later that I learned what actually following Christ meant, and many more years later that I was able to confront those aspects of my past that kept me from really accepting that God did love me.

Ministry Experience (Where I have served in the past, if applicable, including ChurchName, City/State, Position, Years Involved):

Hope Community Evangelical Church, Detroit/MI, 2004 – 2016
Various roles in the men’s ministry, worked on a committee planning a men’s conference

Brighton Christian Church, 2013-2016
Children involved in Gem’s and Rangers

Faith Bible Church, Mason/OH, 2016-2017
Participation in couple’s bible study/community group.

List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:

Men’s Group through Hope Community Church in 2011-2013 – Helped to work through past issues and solidify my identity in Christ

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

My parent’s divorce and a period in which my own marriage was at risk of falling apart.

Lack of relationship with my father.

When I was on a mission trip to Japan, there was a young man who came to a group and joined us wherever we went. He was a local believer, and somewhat new to believing. Over the weeks, we were focused so intently on our schedule and our goals that he was seen as a burden when he simply requested again and again to pray with us because his family was making fun of his new faith. Because I was so focused on the ‘mission’ I missed the ‘person.’ Looking back, I am convinced that the only reason for my going was to simply encourage, uplift, and love on this new brother.
