[E]xperience

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

I had two small children and was frustrated in my marriage. Looking for answers I sought out Christian books. When I read one of the prayers to receive Christ I thought, “I’ve done that and it doesn’t work. I can’t be a Christ-like person.” A very strong thought came into my head that said, “Connie, that’s why I died for you.” That was the beginning of my walk with Christ.

Ministry Experience (Where I have served in the past, if applicable, including ChurchName, City/State, Position, Years Involved):

Women’s Bible Study leader at Creative Living Bible Studies in Carmel, Indiana; 1989-1993

Real Choices Crisis Pregnancy Center; 1999-2003ish; Caregiver for clients and post-abortion Bible Study leader

I have taught Sunday School at Carmel United Methodist Church; been involved in VBS; currently I’m involved in the start-up Deaf ministry at Compass

List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:

I have been married for 42 years.

I have raised three children.

I entered the workforce later in life as a teacher.

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

Both of my parents and my in-laws, as well as two sister-in-laws passed away within a 3 1/2 year period. Five of the six deaths were completely unexpected.

I have experienced unexpected pregnancies – both my own and my daughter’s.

My family of origin included my Deaf brother. As a family, we did not communicate well.
