S.H.A.P.E. Assessment Results

Thank you Courtney Hoyland for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. #1 Gift, Teaching (87%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
Patience, ability to see how someone needs to be taught and meet them on that level. I have always been asked if I am a teacher everywhere I go. I love learning and sharing and passing on knowledge. I get excited about watching people grow.

#2 Gift, Evangelism (81%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I know the gospel, it is the most fantastic news there is. I love sharing what God is doing in my life and how He is pruning me and changing me. I always get asked why am I so full of joy, or how can I be this happy or at peace when I’m so ill and so limited in what I can do. I happily then get to share my testimony with them. Some respond right away, others hate me and some have taken years to develop a trusting friendship, but I am still witnessing to them.

#3 Gift, Prophecy (81%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
Being able to discern what God is saying through scripture and being able to share it or talk about it so others can also understand it better. This is something that has surprised me, but apparently not my friends and family. They say I do this all of the time for them . But it is not me it is the Holy Spirit doing it through me, I am always quick to acknowledge this for I know how weak I am.

[H]eart

Three things I love to do that bring joy and fulfillment in my life:

1. Reading God’s word, reflecting on it and praying about it and sharing it brings me joy.

2. I love to learn and challenge myself. I try to read, see, do something new everyday. So I am very creative and am an artist. So I will sketch, design, write, sing, paint, make jewelry, cards, etc..

3. Actively engaging in God’s creation. I’m an active person who enjoys sport and competition with myself or others. This is very inspiring to me and fills me with such contentment. Albeit outdoors, animals, & people of all ages.

Who I love to work with most, and the age or type of people:

I enjoy interacting with people of all ages. I have a heart for youth, young adults and the elderly.

Church issues, ministries, or possible needs that excite or concern me the most:

We need discipleship throughout our church of all ages. College and careers is a must. We need more smalll groups and we need all ages to get into Scripture, to pursue what God has given us, intends for us. This can be accomplished through more small groups, learning groups, bible study and quizzing.

Your Primary was ‘The Lion’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Retriever’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God

Lion- This personality likes to lead. The lion is good at making decisions and is very goal-oriented. They enjoy challenges, difficult assignments, and opportunity for advancement. Because lions are thinking of the goal, they can step on people to reach it. Lions can be very aggressive and competitive. Lions must learn not to be too bossy or to take charge in other’s affairs.

Strength: Goal-oriented, strong, direct
Weakness: Argumentative, too dictatorial
Limitation: Doesn’t understand that directness can hurt others, hard time expressing grace

Golden Retriever- Good at making friends. Very loyal. Retriever personalities do not like big changes. They look for security. Can be very sensitive. Very caring. Has deep relationships, but usually only a couple of close friends. Wants to be loved by everyone. Looks for appreciation. Works best in a limited situation with a steady work pattern.

Strength: Accommodating, calm, affirming
Weakness: Indecisive, indifferent, unable to express emotional, too soft on other people
Limitation: Seeing the need to be more assertive, holding others accountable

[E]xperience

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

At 14 I sought scripture to see if I really believed what it said. I asked Jesus to be my saviour first at the age 4. I wanted to know for sure that I believed this and wanted it for me and not just because I was raised in a Christian home. After studying scripture at 14 I again committed my life to the Lord, fully understanding all that Jesus said it would be.

Ministry Experience (Where I have served in the past, if applicable, including ChurchName, City/State, Position, Years Involved):

Befc: kids way leader, vbs leader, Sunday school, ministering to and sometimes attending the Ethiopian services, ministering to the elderly and our college kids, youth leader, writing and leading devotional with youth and at retreats, deaconess

Spoke at a couple of SABC retreats for their breakout sessions with the youth.

Choir at Miller college of the bible

List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:

Reading and rereading my bible. Seeing how much God uses my weakness and humanity to reveal Himself to others.

Watching my parents take in strangers, family members and share all that they had for who needed it.

My parents, the way they have been open and honest with me about their walk, struggles and seeing them change over the years.

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

Bible college really showed me the kind of Christian I did not want to be. I naively thought that people would be excited and loving, that I would learn so much about God and gleam wisdoms and get discipled. Instead they were going through the motions seeming like they didn’t actually believe. This was shocking and knew I did not want to be like this, and challenged me to actively seek out God and what He says and teaches.

Having debilitating illnesses and having my life completely changed by them.

Realizing one day at the age of 14, while being made fun of for coming from a Christian home, that I would have decide if I really was a Christian or not? To truly soul search and see if it was what I wanted and I did.
