#1 Gift, Evangelism (78%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I like to talk to other about God or scripture. I never force my beliefs, but when ask or I see an opening to discuss God I always take it. Speaking with other about my relationship with God is fulfilling and make me feel I am doing what he put me on earth to accomplish.

#2 Gift, Exhortation/Encouragement (78%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I’ve always wanted to protect the underdog. I was a soldier most of my young life and I found great comfort in knowing I protected the innocent and spared people from seeing some of life hardships. I do not like to see people taken advantage of or mistreated.

#3 Gift, Giving (68%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I know I need to do more in this area. I have begun to give weekly and plan on increasing what I give as time goes on. Christ yelled us to take care of each other and this is one way I can make sure it is happening.

[H]eart

Three things I love to do that bring joy and fulfillment in my life:

1. I like going to church. I do actually look forward to Sunday worship. I like the community and the feeling of peace I get attending regularly.

2. I love to spend time with family. I don’t care what activity we are doing. I cherish the time I spend with the people I love.

3. I like to travel. One reason I joined the Army was to see the world. They did not disappoint me as I have stood on five continents and hope to see the other two. I also love to workout and stay healthy. I like taking care of myself and encouraging my companions to do the same.

Who I love to work with most, and the age or type of people:

I guess I would say my peers, but I have some good friendships with younger people. I really don’t have a preference.

Church issues, ministries, or possible needs that excite or concern me the most:

I’m new to First friends.

[A]bilities

My current vocation:

I’m a steelworker, so long hours and physical labor, I’m use to. Last year I’ve moved to receiving and I handle the intake of raw materials for the plant.

Other jobs I have experience in:

I’m have spent most of my life as a soldier so, a lot of my skill don’t transfer over well to civilian life. However physical fitness is a huge part of my life. Also I work the last 4 years in Psychol Operations. We conducted intel operations and spent time working with locals in our area to ensure military and civilian population had cordial relations. Our job was to speak with local leaders and work with them on their day to day problems and to keep them informed and safe as we could.

Special talents/skills that I have:

Honestly most of my skills range from physical fitness to shooting. I’m a black belt in tae Kwon do. I think I posses good people skills. I was good reading people and getting our message out while taking their feelings and local culture into consideration. We prided ourselves with conducting numerous operations that save American and local lives. Peace is always the better solution.

I have taught a class or seminar on:

Lol, again I’ve taught classes on survival skills, orientation, I.e. map reading. Basic riflemanship, conducting area assessments and culture studies. Numerous other military related topics. Was an instructor my last two years of duty.

I feel my most valuable personal asset is:

Understanding others and being able to listen to them and value their concerns.

Your Primary was ‘The Lion’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Beaver’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God

Lion- This personality likes to lead. The lion is good at making decisions and is very goal-oriented. They enjoy challenges, difficult assignments, and opportunity for advancement. Because lions are thinking of the goal, they can step on people to reach it. Lions can be very aggressive and competitive. Lions must learn not to be too bossy or to take charge in other’s affairs.

Strength: Goal-oriented, strong, direct
Weakness: Argumentative, too dictatorial
Limitation: Doesn’t understand that directness can hurt others, hard time expressing grace

Beaver- Organized. Beavers think that there is a right way to do everything and they want to do it exactly that way. Beaver personalities are very creative. They desire to solve everything. Desire to take their time and do it right. Beavers do not like sudden changes. They need reassurance.

Strength: High standards, order, respect
Weakness: Unrealistic expectations of self & others, too perfect.
Limitation: Seeing the optimistic side of things, expressing flexibility

[E]xperience

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

I was raised Catholic, God has always been in my life. Church was important to me, but my life experiences have driven home how much I need God in my life. The older I get fortunately I’ve learned

Ministry Experience (Where I have served in the past, if applicable, including ChurchName, City/State, Position, Years Involved):

Really I have none. I worked church festivals was with the Knights of Columbus for a little while. I spoke to fellow soldier when I could about my faith and Jesus Christ. I always look for an opening to talk about my faith.

List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:

Birth of my children. What a miracle to witness and see God’s love.

The feeling of brotherhood I felt in the military. Nowhere else have I truly felt loved by my fellow man and returned it unashamed.

Meeting Amy Conrad. After my divorce I was a broken man. Tried to date after awhile but couldn’t find anyone I had feelings towards or a connection. First time I keyed eyes on Amy I knew she was special. She is without a doubt the finest person I have ever met. Could not love her more and I thank God daily for her.

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

Death of my Grandmother. We were very close and was a dark time for a 12 year old. She was someone I aspired to be like. Kind, strong loving person. Always knew what to say to you. I still miss her today.

My divorce, was hard on me. Came out of the blue for me and totally broke my world. I was a broken man for awhile but somehow managed to pull myself together and come out the other side a better man

Wrapping It Up

The Challenge: Based upon your S.H.A.P.E. Assessment above (the way God wired you), If you knew you couldn’t fail … and ‘lack of money, or time’ was not an obstacle… list your Top 3 Things you would ‘Focus’ your Life on, next to #1 Loving God & #2 Loving Your Neighbor (these would be your ‘3 God-Sized Dreams’ for your life)?

1. My Relationship with GOD

2. My Relationship with Others

  • Putting Your Spouse First
  • Your Kids Second
  • Everyone Else After those

3. Helping the downtrodden. It truly saddens me to see people hungry homeless and without hope in one of the world riches countries. Our justice system is broken too. We punish people for crimes and after they have payed their debut to society. We continue to punish them with a record that will never let them acquire a good job. I hate it.

4. Love to go on a missionary trip and bring Christ word to others. I think for myself I’ve been most effective speeding his word by being an example to those who don’t believe what his fillers should be like. Don’t be get me wrong I fail on a daily basis, but I strive to live like Christ taught us to.

5. Help my local community. It’s sad we don’t come together as a community to help one another.
