S.H.A.P.E. Assessment Results

Thank you Rachel Strong for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. [H]eart

Three things I love to do that bring joy and fulfillment in my life:

1. Teaching – I enjoy seeing when light bulbs go off and people get how what you said applies to their lives. I like to be real with people and not act like I have it all together when I teach. I am all about practical teaching.

2. Leading – I like making sure things are organized and running smoothly.

3. Serving – like at a shelter, delivering Meals on Wheels, getting out in the community to help

Who I love to work with most, and the age or type of people:

I enjoy being able to counsel people one and one and make an impact that way. When we can practically talk about what’s going on and I walk them through their problem solving process so they arrive at a decision/goal that they want for themselves.

I enjoy this most with young people like teens and the Mix age. However, I have done it many times with those older than me as well.

Church issues, ministries, or possible needs that excite or concern me the most:

Community and service projects excite me the most.
Things that concern me is how unorganized the infant room is to include the scheduling (people don’t show up the day they are assigned), the toys (aren’t sanitized on a regular basis, don’t all work), the room (no music or things Godly, it’s just babysitting)

Your Primary was ‘The Lion’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Beaver’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God

Lion- This personality likes to lead. The lion is good at making decisions and is very goal-oriented. They enjoy challenges, difficult assignments, and opportunity for advancement. Because lions are thinking of the goal, they can step on people to reach it. Lions can be very aggressive and competitive. Lions must learn not to be too bossy or to take charge in other’s affairs.

Strength: Goal-oriented, strong, direct
Weakness: Argumentative, too dictatorial
Limitation: Doesn’t understand that directness can hurt others, hard time expressing grace

Beaver- Organized. Beavers think that there is a right way to do everything and they want to do it exactly that way. Beaver personalities are very creative. They desire to solve everything. Desire to take their time and do it right. Beavers do not like sudden changes. They need reassurance.

Strength: High standards, order, respect
Weakness: Unrealistic expectations of self & others, too perfect.
Limitation: Seeing the optimistic side of things, expressing flexibility

[E]xperience

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

I have been in church all my life. I know I was baptized as a child. However, I do not remember anything about this. I experienced a closed head injury at age 19 and lost some of my memories.; this was included.

Ministry Experience (Where I have served in the past, if applicable, including ChurchName, City/State, Position, Years Involved):

Greater Faith Church – Tucson, AZ
Women Ministry Leader
Nursery Head
Youth Teacher
Head Intercessor

List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:

Living with my grandparents – I saw what true love and a great marriage looks like. They have disagreements, but never yelled or hit each other. They knew when to walk away, but never out the door. They were marriage for over 50 years before my grandfather passed.

As a teen, I babysat a lot and for a wide variety of people. This taught me responsibility and the influence you can have on kids. I didn’t have behavior problems with children even when their parents did. I never let guys come over or do anything to neglect the children. Even at a younger age, I valued those children and took the responsibility of caring for them seriously. This defiantly impacted my life and love for kids today.

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

Abortion – helped me to not be judgmental in this area and many others. Even though I was forced to have this done and I know others do it by choice – it is still difficult, life altering and a memory you can never forget.

When my husband and I were both sick and I had to rely on others to help us.It showed me that you can never be too well off to need help. It makes me thankful for what I have and what God has blessed us with. How can we not serve him? I used to stand in food lines at various churches just to have food in our house.

After my head injury, I learned to stop and be present in the moment. I had such a huge list of things I wanted to, this taught me to realign with what God wanted.

Wrapping It Up

The Challenge: Based upon your S.H.A.P.E. Assessment above (the way God wired you), If you knew you couldn’t fail … and ‘lack of money, or time’ was not an obstacle… list your Top 3 Things you would ‘Focus’ your Life on, next to #1 Loving God & #2 Loving Your Neighbor (these would be your ‘3 God-Sized Dreams’ for your life)?

1. My Relationship with GOD

2. My Relationship with Others

  • Putting Your Spouse First
  • Your Kids Second
  • Everyone Else After those

3. I would want to go on a Missionary trip and serve the under privileged using my nursing skills.

4. I would like to teach on Christian based topics in a youth/girl’s home regularly.

5. I would serve and work at the church instead of my RN job.
