S.H.A.P.E. Assessment Results

Thank you Carol Schulte for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. [H]eart

Three things I love to do that bring joy and fulfillment in my life:

1. Helping others who suffer from disasters that were no fault of their own, such as hurricanes, floods, house fires, etc.

2. Sharing in Bible studies and hearing others share what God has done in their lives. Discussing what God has done in our lives in our discipleship class.

3. Going on vacations including short overnight stays in other cities. This includes mission trips.

Who I love to work with most, and the age or type of people:

I enjoy ministering with my husband, except in prisons, jails. I seem to be effective with the elderly, those much older than myself. I am not prejudiced so I work with all types of people.

Church issues, ministries, or possible needs that excite or concern me the most:

Evangelism, reaching outside the church to bring people to Christ. I do not feel I can invite them to church and they will hear the gospel and the need for them to accept Christ among the congregation. I do not think the invitation at the end of the sermon is enough to reach people outside the church.

Your Primary was ‘The Beaver’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Lion’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God

Beaver- Organized. Beavers think that there is a right way to do everything and they want to do it exactly that way. Beaver personalities are very creative. They desire to solve everything. Desire to take their time and do it right. Beavers do not like sudden changes. They need reassurance.

Strength: High standards, order, respect
Weakness: Unrealistic expectations of self & others, too perfect.
Limitation: Seeing the optimistic side of things, expressing flexibility

Lion- This personality likes to lead. The lion is good at making decisions and is very goal-oriented. They enjoy challenges, difficult assignments, and opportunity for advancement. Because lions are thinking of the goal, they can step on people to reach it. Lions can be very aggressive and competitive. Lions must learn not to be too bossy or to take charge in other’s affairs.

Strength: Goal-oriented, strong, direct
Weakness: Argumentative, too dictatorial
Limitation: Doesn’t understand that directness can hurt others, hard time expressing grace

[E]xperience

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

Accepted Christ at 27 years old in the basement of a home not associated with a church.

Ministry Experience (Where I have served in the past, if applicable, including ChurchName, City/State, Position, Years Involved):

List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:

Married my husband who is a radical Christian, informal evangelist and preacher.

Mentoring by other Christians both informally and in Bible studies.

Fellowshipping with other Christians and learning from them. Especially, getting out of my old life into my new Christian life. Christian friends kept me actively involved in their social activities to help me learn to be a Christian since I did not grow up in church.

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

Being fired twice from my job, both were rescinded. People at work would come to talk to me about their similar situations and I counseled them. I use Deuteronomy 24:7 to minister to Christians going through similar situations.

Evacuating from hurricanes to Red Cross shelters gave me compassion for others going through the same thing. I was especially moved listening to others who found out their houses were destroyed. That is what moved me to volunteer for the Red Cross.

My teaching a class during the summer was canceled due to budget cuts. I was sure I had a job since the students needed the second course to get into nursing school in the fall. Tom found out about a teaching position in Haiti at a Christian university. Spent 5 weeks there and fell in love with the people and the country. I was not interested in mission work until then. We have taken Spanish courses in order to go on the mission field. I have done a week mission trip to Mexico. Tom uses his Spanish to witness to Spanish speaking inmates in the prisons. We now generously support missionaries both overseas and in the states.

Wrapping It Up

The Challenge: Based upon your S.H.A.P.E. Assessment above (the way God wired you), If you knew you couldn’t fail … and ‘lack of money, or time’ was not an obstacle… list your Top 3 Things you would ‘Focus’ your Life on, next to #1 Loving God & #2 Loving Your Neighbor (these would be your ‘3 God-Sized Dreams’ for your life)?

1. My Relationship with GOD

2. My Relationship with Others

  • Putting Your Spouse First
  • Your Kids Second
  • Everyone Else After those

3. Go on a mission trip and be able to speak the language of the people.

4. Relearn Spanish so I can serve Red Cross clients in Port Arthur.

5. Clean up my house and yard to remove clutter from our lives. This would help Tom minister by having a welcome home at all times and to take off the burdens from his life so he could more effectively serve the Lord.
