S.H.A.P.E. Assessment Results

Thank you Stephanie Hughes for taking the SHAPE Assessment. We encourage you to meet with a Church Leader that you respect, to go over your results, so that they can help you discover a place to serve in the church and/or community, and also to help you fine-tune your 5 Main Focuses/Priorities listed at the bottom of this email under the ‘Wrapping it up’ section. #1 Gift, Teaching (96%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I am and do teach a ladies group, after years of God preparing me for His service. I have prayed for a ministry after 5 years of Bible classes, when I have a Biology degree.

#2 Gift, Prophecy (78%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
I assume that this is speaking for/about God. I have studied my Bible for years, read it every year through, trying to understand and cooperate with the heart of God.

#3 Gift, Evangelism (75%)

This gift’s evident in my life in the following ways:
Each person needs to hear the truth of the gospel. That is my mandate from my Lord. With my studies and my heart’s desire to follow the mandate of Christ, I can effectively take someone to scriptures that may enlighten, explain, and encourage a commitment to Christ, to become a follower of Jesus and a disciple.

[H]eart

Three things I love to do that bring joy and fulfillment in my life:

1. Study the Word of God to understand God better and know His path for my life

2. Read my Bible daily and yearly as part of my commitment to Christ.

3. I love to cook, to bring ingredients and a recipe to life.

Who I love to work with most, and the age or type of people:

I love working with the ladies. They are all different ages, so I get different perspectives, and at all different stages and that challenges me to look at issues, problems, and cases from those different perspectives. I love their energy.

Church issues, ministries, or possible needs that excite or concern me the most:

Missions is an exciting possibility. People are challenged when a missionary comes to speak about their field. People look at things differently…a bigger world out there. That is exciting to a church.

Your Primary was ‘The Beaver’, with your Secondary coming in as ‘The Lion’, and here are the descriptions of your Personalities, and how they can be used for God

Beaver- Organized. Beavers think that there is a right way to do everything and they want to do it exactly that way. Beaver personalities are very creative. They desire to solve everything. Desire to take their time and do it right. Beavers do not like sudden changes. They need reassurance.

Strength: High standards, order, respect
Weakness: Unrealistic expectations of self & others, too perfect.
Limitation: Seeing the optimistic side of things, expressing flexibility

Lion- This personality likes to lead. The lion is good at making decisions and is very goal-oriented. They enjoy challenges, difficult assignments, and opportunity for advancement. Because lions are thinking of the goal, they can step on people to reach it. Lions can be very aggressive and competitive. Lions must learn not to be too bossy or to take charge in other’s affairs.

Strength: Goal-oriented, strong, direct
Weakness: Argumentative, too dictatorial
Limitation: Doesn’t understand that directness can hurt others, hard time expressing grace

[E]xperience

My brief testimony of how I became a Christian

I was a whore, cheating on my husband. I was a drug user of marijuana and alcohol. I came to the end of myself and realized I had made a mess of my life. I needed someone who could understand, have power, and loved me enough to constructively help me. I prayed a simple prayer, “Jesus, You know what I need.” I have never regretted it or looked back.

Ministry Experience (Where I have served in the past, if applicable, including ChurchName, City/State, Position, Years Involved):

Teacher at BBC Defender Academy, Baptist Bible Church, Ravenna, Ohio, 8 years;

Teacher at First Baptist Church Christian School, Atwater, Ohio, 7 years;

I have also taught Sunday School and Junior Church for children; and I now teach a ladies Sunday School class.

List 3 Positive experiences from the past that made a big impact on who you are today:

I was in the army, which helped me to understand the biblical teachings of Paul about being a good soldier, esprit d’corps, unity, and working together for a common goal.

I have worked hard on my marriage to keep it together, have it thrive, and be the best I can be in it. This is a picture of the church and Christ to me. I am the bride and submit to the Lord’s will for my life.

I have children and this shows the heart of God. One of my sons is close to the Lord, striving to be his best for God, and one is an alcoholic, flushed his family down the toilet, and lives for himself. I see how God views his children with love, compassion, and never waivers in His standards and devotion. A tough road and painful.

List 3 Negative Experiences from your past that have helped to Shape me, but also have given you great compassion for others going through similar circumstances:

My father was a physical abuser beating me in rages for most of my childhood. This really distorted my views of men..my husband and my God. I can relate and feel when others share their pain. To the day he died my dad never told me he loved me or was proud of me. BUT God did!

My mother was crazy. She was in deed mentally disturbed and took it out on me. I was slapped around, my dad “sicked” on me, told I was worthless, one time she told me that she had to stay in bed with me (pregnant), and if she had known how I would have turned out she would have gotten up (lost me). I try to be a better mother and grandmother and not like that for mine and my church.

I had a baby out of wedlock when it was a horrible sin. I still am ashamed of this. I have scars in me that cannot go away.

Wrapping It Up

Assessment above (the way God wired you), If you knew you couldn’t fail … and ‘lack of money, or time’ was not an obstacle… list your Top 3 Things you would ‘Focus’ your Life on, next to #1 Loving God & #2 Loving Your Neighbor (these would be your ‘3 God-Sized Dreams’ for your life)?

  • Your Kids Second
  • Everyone Else After those

3. to be a missionary and lead others to my Lord

4. write devotional books on Christian themes
