[E]xperience

My wife’s alcoholism and the stress of raising an Aspergers step-son with my own 2 children led me to file for divorce; telling my children wrecked me. I visited a friend and he asked, “would you try one more thing?” He introduced me to someone who mentored people to Christ. My wife and I both committed ourselves to Christ in 2008. We then went to a home church for 2 years before finding and progressive Jesus church that fit us, we have been there for almost 8 years and increasing our servant and participation every day.

Children’s ministry (3.5 years), men’s ministry and groups (2.5 years), community/home churches (8 years) – Westside A Jesus Church, Portland, Oregon. All volunteer positions.

Stepping up to serve, participating in communities and groups.

Having great mentors and communities to learn from, be accountable to and serving others.

Being a part of a great church that does an outstanding job of taking biblical truth, putting it into the context of time and relevance to my life and encouraging serving and community.

My wife’s alcoholism and her (1) seemingly disinterest in improving on it, (2) the impact on our family, mostly our 2 kids, (3) her passive approach to Christian life, and (4) her not disclosing it to our church friends.

Raising an Apergers child in which I was the most disciplined parent of 3 (his father has mostly been involved), the impact on our family and as me as a parent.

Committing adultery and leaving my first marriage after only 4 years in which I hurt someone very much that I was supposed to be committed to for my life. My immature and stupid, unloving decisions to destroy the covenant of marriage.
